If i had it to do over thread
I thought I would start a If I had it to do over thread. I occasionally look at things and say I wish I had waited or I could have done that cheaper or better!

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had it to do over, I would...
1. Make a plan for my truck from the start including a budget and research of costs for items that were a part of the critical path. 2. I would look at what will save me time if I hire it out.

If i had it do to do over I would...
Arranged for use or rental of a larger shop so I could tear the truck down and have room to work while it was apart!

Re: If i had it to do over thread
A very dangerous thread you started! I pay good money to a therapist to get me past that question! LOL

Re: If i had it to do over thread
So far, no regrets on this truck. About the last 5 trucks I have built (all 67-72s), I always regretted not building an earlier truck, so this build has finally been the right truck for me.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had to do it over, I would have bought a more expensive truck that was a little farther along than mine and a bit less of a "project".

Re: If i had it to do over thread
Now I have to read that other's are going through the same thing I am . To bad my therapist wasn't a better builder. Course If I stopped going to therapy I could probably buy yet another accessory.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I wouldn't throw away ANY parts till I was done! I have needed some fro reference after the fact, and have found other members who could have used the old part!

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had to do over.....
I wouldn't try to fix things that weren't broken... messed up a carb...caught the dang truck on fire (twice)....destroyed front and back signal harnesses.. all from trying to "upgrade or restore" things that worked perfectly fine as they were. Other than that, no regrets. The truck may be a money sieve but I love it and I would miss it if I didn't have it.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I'm happy with my '60, mostly trial and error.
If I had to do it again on the '80 I had, I wouldn't have dropped a bolt down the intake and wouldn't have had to spend $1500 on a new crate motor.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I would wait for one of you to finish your truck and buy it for a fraction of what you have into it.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had it to do over...
I would have purchased and learned to use a wire welder MUCH earlier in the process!
