Re: If i had it to do over thread
Proform GM Licensed Chevrolet Linear Wire Looms: $51.95 Straight down the rat hole. Biggest regret on the '283' Rebuild. Ram Horn Barbecue turned this fine looking assembly, with plastic clips, into a pile of smoking mush during the 20 minute break-in secession. Mac.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I could do it over I would have planned to stop at the stop sign that first second and third blew through I planned on blowing through in fifth...... Fourth slammed his brakes....

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had it to do over I would have offered to produce a video of Alan doing body work on my truck for all to view.
If I had it to do over, I would have smoothed and painted my firewall prior to putting the motor back in. ( I was anxious to drive it!)

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I I were to do it over, I would have invested my $800 in a rust free Arizona hood which would have probably even been less than the cost of the fiberglass even with highly protective shipping.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I would've left the 283 in Lisa's '65. Refer to build thread...

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I bet your Grampa would approve. My Dad has been telling me that my trucks have been a waste of time since I got my first one at 19. I'm 47 now and he keeps telling me the same thing. Found a stash of photo's of my projects since I was a kid in his garage. His friends tell me he's proud of the stuff I've built, old farts just like to complain but underneath there as excited as we are.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had to do it over, I would get off the internet and finish all my projects in my own Garage , instead I'm here playing and one finger typing.....

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had it to do over,
1.I would have bought all the parts for both sides of the cab floor and supports. I just bought one side. Little did I know the tear down on side 2 would go real fast and I would need the parts pronto! 2. I would have learned the rules and limitations of all vendors I use when it comes to returning parts. Lord knows how many parts I have bought and may have sitting around and or boxed up. Some, like a HEI distributor and a Holley 4bbl carb, I just gave away to people who I thought would use them.

Re: If i had it to do over thread
If I had it to do over,
I would have left the old wooden floor in my truck for awhile after removing the steel plates my grandpa had welded in. Even though it had a few holes in it, it had some stories to tell!

Re: If i had it to do over thread
I would have listened to Alan and braced my cab when working on it. I haven"t found any discrepancies and the guy who does it in the videos doesn't use it, but I am constantly worrying about something not matching up. I fealt the braces would have been in the way, but i doubt it!
