Re: the 7-9-09 what did you get done thread

we had a busy weekend here in bullhead city working on our 74 C-10.. my daughter fixed the dent in my drivers door, while i cleaned the front frame rails and engine from the firewall forward with oven cleaner first, then used the pressure washer, after everything dryed we sandblasted the frame rails and primed everything. looks decent but still needs a little bit of scraping, should be able to install all the new bushing's next weekend, and put the frontclip back on.

Re: the 7-9-09 what did you get done thread

The Heap has an appointment with a spray booth this coming saturday (15th). My weekend was spent thrashing away on the body. The bed is sanded, straightened, and primed (I love High Build primer!). I also mocked up the new bed floor, oak, finished up the cab's body work and cleaned up a big mess in the garage. My evenings this week will be spent removing glass, trim, weatherstrip and anything else in the way of a spray gun.

As I said before, no pictures until she's done!

Pulled the dash, fixed a few cluster lights, hooked up the 2 dash speakers I didn't know were there.

Re: the 7-9-09 what did you get done thread

sjreno- sorry about the bumper. I had some bad luck this weekend too.

Had some rust in my cowl that I wanted to check out. It went up under the seal for the windsheild. I decided that the best thing would be to pull it, so I could clean and paint it. Long story short I cracked it. I went all along the seal inside and broke it loose, but forgot about the outside. It started to budge, and I pushed a little harder and it cracked.

More bad news is there was a rust hole under the seal. So I got frustrated with that, removed the dash pad to get ready for cleaning up the rust and priming. Pulled the cluster completely apart to clean it. I'm gonna paint the inside and install all new bulbs.

I also took what was left of my 3M headlight restoration kit and polished the cluster lense. Its not perfect, but looks 10x better. It was really yellowed where I let the truck sit for so long outside.

Hope everyone had better luck that me this weekend!

If you only knew.....

The main reason I got so frustrated is b/c the bottom of the cab is rusting away to. If my father hadnt given me this truck, it would be long gone.....

There are too many memorys to let it go though. This truck has been with me for more than half my life!!

Anyway, hope the moron that smashed yours had insurance and it dosent take two months to get another bumper.

Re: the 8-9-09 what did you get done thread

Once again, I didn't do anything to my 77. Keith and Roger got the air lines plumbed. The correct panhard bracket for the 12 bolt rear was shipped from Air Ride. It should be in their hands on Monday.

I did play musical tires/wheels on my drivers. I had defective tires on my 06 Silverado. Since I plan to replace it soon, I thought "I'll put the new tires on my wife's Denali and put her "like new" tires on my truck. That turned in to a big fiasco that required a set of temporary tires/wheels until the correct size was available.

I thought it looked sweet, but Momma was not happy. We all know, when Momma ain't happy, "Nobody is happy"...so the black wheels didn't stay.

Pressure washed the entire house, continued to prep garage for paint next weekend, inspected the couch for comfort.

Re: the 8-9-09 what did you get done thread

I went out and scored a bunch of interior parts from a '90 Silverado Suburban for my Scottsdale model. Got the rear seats, head liner visors(lighted) with wiring, Jesus handles, rear A/C housing & Lower rear side trim for the bed area as well as the overhead console all for $200.00
Sunday I spent all day reworking the overhead console to fit my stereo into it. More on that later. Will post a write up on it when finished.

I started stripping down the motor to get it removed from the truck. I also listened to the new engine running at the engine builders. So that was a big motivator to get the old one out!

Yeah I know, right. But I got more compliments in one night than I have had since we have owned the truck.
