72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

I have a 63 C20, and I took the entire disc front end from a 72 C20, and now I want to put a newer style like 75 C10 power steering gear on the frame. Anyone have the schematics or specs for an adapter plate? I also want to mount the 75 power booster, any info on that would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: 72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

I took advantage of Captain Fab and his July bracket special and though it is not complete yet, is working out perfectly. I am using a 71 disc donor under a 64 C-10. I do not have the steering bracket on yet

Re: 72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

I sent you an e-mail, I have the tools and ability to build them myself, just not the time, no sense wasting time I need to spend on other issues. I am sure once I get the parts it will be self explanitory. I may need to rustle up a push rod for the brakes or make one. I have the pitman arm on the 75 steer box. I am sure I can use that, and I will drill the holes for the idler arm once I have the geometry from the box. I am dropping a 350 and a 4speed out of an 81 chevy, should bolt right up to the motor mount plates I got from the 72, as it was a 350 4-speed. My 63 was a 6 cyl, 3speed, is why I changed out the complete crossmember, so I had the heavier springs and the reinforcement plates for the upper bolts, and 8 lug discs, I plan on being able to haul and tow with it.
Thanks, and I look forward to your e-mail.
Ron

Re: 72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

As promised, here are some pics of Steering adapter plate install. Cut my steering shaft back 1 3/4 per instruction. Lined up as per the measurements, got the pitman arm bolted on, made sure the box was in line with the shaft. Clamped the plate in place, tacked to frame with some ugly welds from my POS craftsman wirefeed. Drilled holes, painted. I decided to keep the original steering column for now. I cut the lower hollow shaft off of the 75 column, and used it to slip over the original shaft, perfect fit, then drilled a couple of holes in the hollow shaft so I can put 4 plug welds in it for strength.
Still have to line up the idler arm and bolt it in place. Starting on the Power brakes next and will start a new thread with those pics. Captain feel free to link or add these pics to your for sale post.

Thanks 63sbssbbw,
Captain Fab makes some nice Brake booster adapters too, I am going to use one on my 63, and will post those pics too.

Re: 72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

Thanks for posting those pics Ron

Good looking frame and steering box installation.

I had wondered about the later model intermediate steering shaft, but just hadn't tried it.

Re: 72 power steering on 63 frame adapter plates?

Just thought I would post pics of how the Idler arm and centerlink ended up.
with no shocks and the arms at full drop, and with the centerlink level with the frame, the centerlink almost touches the crossmember. It moves away as it goes through the steering lock to lock, and will move away when it is on the ground with some weight on it.
