My Daughter Makes My Day
My 17 year old daughter wrecks her car..........Shes fine and the other guy is OK too, he needs a new bumper on his truck......He was pretty nice, told officer not to make report he would let me take care of it. That kept her from getting a ticket for following to close and will keep my insurance from going though the roof......... I'll have to fix both vehicles out of pocket

The Mustang doesn't look too bad. Did it hit the radiator at all?

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
glad to hear she is fine, and, it was very cool of him to not do the police report thing. Out of pocket will be cheaper than jacked up insurance rates.
If you do the junkyard crawl for the parts on that 05 mustang, you may get lucky and find an 06-09 pony mustang with the added lights... or maybe check e bay for a gt front end. The GT guys will put in a v6 grill for added cooling when they add an air to air charge air cooler after going with forced induction. Since the bumper is not crushed, I'll assume the air bags didn't pop, which would add $2000 or so to the job (lucky you!) It's just a flesh wound on the stang, light damage on the other car, no one was hurt, and the other guy is being cool. I think you are doing OK in this one. |

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
you could look for parts here; www.car-part.com
I would get Mr. Truck owner fixed first. after all he sounds like a extra cool guy and I would want it to stay that way. BTW, did the police have any problem with not filing a report? did you have to sign some sort of contract in his presence? |

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
Thank God they are both ok. Reminds me of the day my daughter hit a fire truck (lights and sirens blaring) with my new Audi!

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
Glad to hear everyone is ok. You don't usually find too many people being cool about it like the other guy. That's a plus. It's weird to see exactly where the bumper from his truck hit it. Keep us updated, and I'm sure you don't need to tell her not to follow as close next time.

[ Consider it blood money. Her freedom is in your two hands. Imagine how many chores could be done voluntarily by your daughter. Glad the kid is ok.

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
Lots of kids learn the hard way about following too close...at least she managed to learn the lesson and not get hurt. She wasn't texting, was she?

Re: My Daughter Makes My Day
Isn't that what Fawds are supposed to look like?
PS Glad she's OK. BTW I know what it's like to get that dreaded phonecall having gotten one last year when another girl from my daughter's highschool got distracted (read was texting) and promptly ran in the back of my daughter's stationary Jeep at 40+ mph.
