Horn stays on

When I connect the horn wire to the horn on my '63 the horn comes on and stays on. Any ideas on why and how it can be fixed? Thanks.

First off, have you changed the steering wheel? If the wire going thru it is grounded, it will sound the horn.

Re: Horn stays on

My last truck did this to me ('70 C10). It was the horn relay. But, if it is the relay, don't just disconnect your hornwire from the horn under the hood. You have to disconnect the relay itself or it'll run your battery down over a couple days.

Re: Horn stays on

I haven't taken the steering wheel off since I got it in '03 but I think the previous owner did some work on the column. I had to get the short wire that connects to the horn from another truck at the junkyard because mine was missing.

Has the horn worked since you've had the truck?
sounds like it was grounded before you got it and the PO
just took the wire off to stop the horn from blowing.
I would check for a wire grounded.
