Painted the inside and the firewall on my cab and also was able to drop the cab on the frame.

Not much on the trucks. I spent some time with my family on Saturday. We went to a town festival that much to my suprise had a car show. Saw some cool car/trucks. I swapped my 91 Chevy front end to a 91 GMC. I don't know if I like the GMC version.

The only thing truck related I did was go look at an 80 crew cab dually in Oklahoma that I found on craigslist friday night. It turned out to be in bad shape, the roof around the doors were rusted as was the pillar right next to the windshield on the right side. The rockers appeared to be fine except where they met the floor pan, and when we started it up it sounded like a cummins not good for a 454. The best part about the truck was that both seats and the headliner were in great shape, probably redone. But it was definitely not worth the $1500 asking price.

On saturday, my wife and I went to the Good Guys car show in Kansas City KS. Seen quite a few nice cars and trucks there. Didn't get to see them all but still managed to get around 500 pictures though. The only thing that sucks about that show is the 72 cut off year.

Maybe I will get more done next week.......

Pulled out the TH400 outta my 73 Suburban Saturday. Rebuilt the TH400 Sunday. Today I'm pulling out the old 350 engine out & gonna degrease & pressure wash out the engine compartment. Also gonna start on getting the 1991 350 engine ready to put in. Hoping to have it all done net weekend.

Went out this afternoon and started on my new gauge panel. The speedometer and quad gauge setup will be mounted behind a factory panel. I used the clear factory instrument cover as a mounting panel. The back panel was originally cutout to make room for a 5" Autometer speedo and tach. As you can see I changed my mind. My air gauges will go on the left.

Got the engine out of the blazer and starting tearing it down.

I was lied two twice now! Its a 305, and it wasnt running anytime in at least the last year. Once I got the pan off I can see rust up in the cylinders. There are no bent rods, and all the push rods and valves look good. The timing chain had lots of slop in it, but the cam and lifters are free. Hoping its just the rust holding it. I have to get some bolts tomorrow to get it on my engine stand so i can remove the intake, heads etc and see if I can get it freed up. Pics will be in my build thread shortly, link is in my sig....

tried for the 100th time to get the passenger door aligned just right...no success there. i pulled the fender too, but it didn't help too much. I know Eastwood sells a door alignment tool, and i'm sure that would help a lot...
BUT THERE HAS TO BE SOME TRICK TO GETTING THESE ****ING DOORS HUNG RIGHT!
very frustrating.................

^^^The Eastwood tool is the bomb. I got one after I replaced the door pins and striker pins, and the door still had a sag to it. After about 45 seconds per door with the tool...POOF, they both close like butta.

I didn't do anything truck related except strip, sand and primer/paint the fuel tank straps for the new passenger side gas tank. I didn't actually even crank the truck this weekend...it rained until yesterday.

I did get the footprint for my new garage/shop layed out with some tent spikes and string and where the retaining wall will be. Can't start on the footing and wall until the ground dries out though

I finally accomplished something besides work for a change. I've had to work just about every weekend all summer. I got my 383 stroker and a spare 350 that I built earlier this spring painted up Saturday. Both of them have been sitting wrapped up in plastic for the last 3 months. Now they just need final assembly, and it looks like it may be a while before I'll be able to finish them.

The 383 was going to be for my 86 K10, but I think I'm going to put it in my Z28 as soon as I get a trans built. Getting paint on them was mainly a need to because the weather gets cold here early it seems. I knew I'd be without the use of my garage for the next 3-4 weeks at least since my pilot light went out on my water heater and I went to re-light it and found mold in my utility room.

It was caused from the condensation line on my air conditioner getting plugged up, and then to top it off, the guy that came out to fix the line said that it was draining UPHILL instead of DOWN! I got that fixed, and had my a/c guy fix it so that I can pour some bleach in the line a couple of times a summer from now on. I would wring the builder's neck if I could get my hands on him! This sure has caused one hell of a mess. I have a contractor that specializes in this coming out today to begin work on getting rid of the mold and restoring my home back to the way it was before. They are going to pull my furnace and hot water heater this morning and start drying this mess out.

It's going to be a huge inconvenience because I work 3rd shift and they will be out here all day every day until it's done. I'll have no a/c or water until they get the reconstruction that far, so I'm going to likely have to move my family into a motel at least until they get enough done that the a/c and hot water heater are re-installed. Good thing I have insurance. My policy is for $10,000, and early estimate was $8,000. I just hope that it's all covered by the time they get done.

No wonder I have felt so lousy all summer! Mold can make you very sick,even kill you, so keep a close eye on those condensation lines and make sure that they are draining! I sure will from now on! Anyway, I figured with all the chaos going on around here, and more scheduled weekends at work in my future until the cows come home, I'd better accomplish SOMETHING in my 3 day weekend! ...Joe

Replaced driver's side floor pan on the one ton dump. Probably should have replaced the rocker while i was at it, but when i started it appeared ok. But after the old pan was out, i found putty and patches that i didn't know was there. What i wouldn't give for a rust free cab!!!!

Been a while since I posted on this end of the site. Changed jobs the 4th time in 2 years back in april. Working nights kinda leaves me in a zombie mode all week. Had to work monday. This weekend worked a little on the wifes buick. The chevy 383 is sitting good where the 250 once was trans is bolted up clutch is working. Since I had the flywheel ballanced with the crank and its a truck flywheel Had to drill and tap the flywheel for the smaller car clutch. No point in wasteing a clutch with 30 miles on it. Made a custom dual exh system from bits and peices I had scrounged up just "need" to get a couple cheap mufflers and its done. Should be a huge difference for her going from a 250 with a jacked up carb to a 383 that zipped to 6k without effort.

You can build that simple tool. Take a piece of scrap metal about 10-12" long or so by 1 1/2-2" wide. Use an extra striker, mount it on one end. Cut a groove in the center of the other end. Just look at the ones you can buy and model it after that. There really isn't much to it. Then you can either weld a bolt to it to turn it with a socket/ratchet combo. Or you can weld a bent "arm" on it to use as the leverage. Like I said, pretty cheap & easy. But it does the same job. Ask me if you have any questions.

Had a very good week end. We had the TN board guys meet this week end. We are building a truck for a lady that lost her husband last year. Here is some pics of me working, can not say much for the rest.

And yes that is me in the black working, Bryan just came over looking good for all the pics. I put the rear end all back together and we put in the truck frame and also put the motor in. Worked out good and was happy to see everyone..

Didn't get as much done as I wanted to. I've had six house guests since last Tuesday that just left this morning.

I did mange to get all my accessories degreased, painted and installed.

Got my 2x4 headers modified to fit around the 4x4 parts and cut, fit & tacked together the 2-1/2" exhaust pipes from the collectors back to just behind the transfer case. Still need to weld them up and install them so I can connect them to the rest of the existing exhaust.

I didn't have enough of this little 2-1/2" tubing to finish the rest of the system. I will need to order some more. I could have made it dual 3-1/2" pipes with the parts I have on hand but that would be way too much for that little 350.

I still need to install the starter, prime the oil system & stab the distributor after I get the exhaust system completed then I can fire it up and adjust the valves so it can get back on the road.

I've had six house guests since last Tuesday that just left this morning. I did mange to get all my accessories degreased, painted and installed. Got my 2x4 headers modified to fit around the 4x4 parts and cut, fit & tacked together the 2-1/2" exhaust pipes from the collectors back to just behind the transfer case. Still need to weld them up and install them so I can connect them to the rest of the existing exhaust. I didn't have enough of this little 2-1/2" tubing to finish the rest of the system. I will need to order some more. I could have made it dual 3-1/2" pipes with the parts I have on hand but that would be way too much for that little 350. I still need to install the starter, prime the oil system & stab the distributor after I get the exhaust system completed then I can fire it up and adjust the valves so it can get back on the road.
