A/C removal - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi all,
Im running no A/c in my truck, can I pull the core out ok and put a panel over the hole ? is the heater core on the inside of the cab ?
And can anyone tell me what the small black globe pointed out is, it has a vacuum line which runs inside the cab.

thats the evaporator.. you should prolly remove the AC unit and replace it with the regular non AC box.. the heater core is inside the cab

i tried that, thinking it would work...definitely a pain in the neck. i would either leave it alone if you still want heat or pull the entire system. and add a piece of sheet metal over the fire wall. then maybe put in a heater from summit or something. that's what i did and it works pretty well, without the clutter on the fire wall.

The ball is a vacuum reservoir. It stores vacuum for the A/C controls, IIRC. The hole for non A/C and A/C is completely different. I second the notion to pull everything, if you are trying to clean up the firewall.

in rereading the thread yes that is what the vacuum does it allows the vents to shift from upper to lower and the ac door etc
