Air Bag Tank Size ?
Im in the UK and just about to order my air bag components, however im getting lots of different opinions on tank and compressor size,
1963 C10, Long Fleet, Small c notch out back, 2" drop spindles up front, I dont need the air system to go up & down fast, Just need to get her a bit lower when stationary, I had a 48 Ford with mustang 2 front end with air ride tec bags, 1 gallon tank, small compressor, all worked fine, 2-3 mins to refill tank. I was thinking the following, 4 X 6" bags, 1 x 3 gallon tank, thanks Last edited by roofingbloke; 10-24-2009 at 03:29 AM. Reason: spelling mistake |

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I have a 3 gallon tank on my blazer and wish I had a 5 gallon.
I just wish I could have a little more capacity.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
Hi Lolife, Why do you think a bigger tank is required ?
What size pipes are you running. |

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I am running only 1/4" airlines.
I just want more "switch time" without the compressor running.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I'm running a 5 gallon tank with 1/2" lines and 2 compressors. Truck would lift and drop too fast for my liking so I put flow controls on both the aired up and aired out. Thinking about switching to (2) 3 gallon tanks. Not because of performance, just because I want to relocate my tank and it wont fit where i want it.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
One 3 gallon tank is going to be rather small. If it's possible to fit a single 5 gallon, or two 3 gallon I think you will be happier.
If a single 3 gallon is your only option, consider a compressor with a high PSI rating. This will at least allow you to pack as much air in the tank as possible.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I'm also using a 5 gallon tank with 3/8 lines and 1 compressor. Works fine for what I want.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I think a good set up would be a 5 gallon tank and 2 compressors keeps the run time down on the compressors....they suck to listen to...just remeber the comp's are hard on eletical systems they draw like 16 amps each

I think most will agree that the worst part of an air suspension is listening to the compressor run. I have mine mounted at the very rear of the truck with the filter remote mounted and it's still annoying.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
Be sure if you run two compressors, that you use a relay.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
You can never have enough. The bigger the better. Depends on the amount of room and your mounting location. I have 2 5gal. tanks and still wish I had more.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I'm running a gallon tank and one Viair 400C compressor right now. It works just fine. I can raise my truck up once before the compressor kicks on. I'm running 1/2" lines with 3/8" Big Red valves, and a 135/150 pressure switch.

Re: Air Bag Tank Size ?
I'm impatient and went with 2 Viair 400's (almost 5cfm IIRC). I originally had a 6gal tank and after filling the compressors would not turn on at all after numerous adjustments. My compressors pull 50amps...so what, you have to wire them anyway..just use some cable...and a big alternator. I used all re7's with 1/2'' line, fyi.
I re-did my set-up with a 5gal tank and 2 re8's at the rear. I used 3/8's line to the back, also, for a little bit more control. After airing up the bags, my compressors now kick on for just a minute to replenish the tank. The re8's really eat more air.
