Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

looks short to me, but the angle of the photo kind plays tricks with you..

easiest way to tell in a photo is to look for stake pockets, the short does not have one over the wheel well.

swb = 115"
lwb = 127"

No intermediate stake pockets on the short bed, like Jon said.

Also, the VIN will tell you, if you have it.

I think the one in the pictures is a long bed.

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

I vote shortbed.

The vin isn't a sure thing. My vin says mine is a longbed so at some time my cab was put on its shortbed frame.

I drove 80 miles to go look at a truck the owner told me was a shortbed. The garage door wasn't even all the way open before I could tell she didn't have a clue. I told her it was a longbed, she said "no it's not, a longbed is 8 feet long". So I pulled out my measuring tape. All she said was "Oh". I just walked away.

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

I'm gonna say it's a shortbed just by the distances ahead and behind the fender opening. They seem pretty "equal".

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

I'd say long bed it's really had to see because of the angle of the pic's but the space in front of the rear tire is longer than the space behind. If it was a short bed the space would be equal to fit the shorter frame and be centered over the wheel opening. Take a tape measure with you when you go look at it #'s don't lie.---Vernski

What has been established – is if you want to sell a fleetside and be very ambiguous about whether it is long or short, this is the best angle to photograph.

Looks short to me. The doors are close to the same length as the front panel

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

Just heard from the owner on whether it's a long or short bed.... But first, here are the results from the "unoffical poll"....

(5) votes for short
(4) votes for long

And the winner is......

Drum roll..............

SHORT BED...... I will be picking it up Wednesday afternoon. Pics will follow on the purchase and trip home...

Thanks for the help...

So true. I can't tell you how many ads I looked at before I fould my truck. Alot of the ads didn't volunteer the bed length. That's probably the most important fact.

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

just a shot in the dark here.. if im correct people did the spare tire modification to the bed and it was only on longbeds because the spare can't fit behind the well on a short if im correct this is a shorty because the tire wouldnt fit from what i can see

Re: Do you think this is a Long or Short Bed...?

My first instinct was short based on the wheel well arch being "tighter" around the tire than a long would be. Then the missing stake pocket backed that up. Still a tough angle though.
