I am working through some ideas for the rear of my 47 3600 I am changing out the rear end to a 4x4 s10 rear end and have a 69chevy c10 and was wondering if it'd be possible or how difficult it would be to adapt the trailing arms to the 47? I think the trailing arm suspension is such a great design. Also I have te rear end for the c10 as well if that would help.

Are you using the original frame? If so, there are kits available. You could also measure and see if the 67-72 trailing arm assembly/cross member will fit in the original frame for your 47. You could even take it further and splice in the back half of the 67-72 frame.

Just some ideas to kick around. I don't remember where I saw the kits but I do know they are out there, and the kits are for a four link.

Thanks for the response and yes I'm running the origianl stock frame. I had the same thought of using the cross brace forthe trailing arms and if it didn't fit I guess I could just make one. I haven't seen anything that could not make it fit but wanted some fresh minds on the subject. Thanks again.

You'd be better off using the c-10 rear so you'd have the panhard bar ear already on the rear end.

That's a very good point I just wasn't sure about width if it was too wide or what so I'll go measure thank you.

C10 rear will be a bit wide... especially if you're looking for a decent drop. I am alos working on a kit for this application that uses the trailing arms supension.

Wow porter thanks for jumping in it's an honor your stuff is amazing. So is the kit done? And if so how much. I went out and measured and it's 54 inches wide. Now the other thing to remember isni jar the 3600 not the 3100 is my frame wider than the 1/2 ton?

Porter - i've watched your builds over on the suspension forum and your stuff looks great! Do you happen to have, or are developing, a kit for 55-59's? [KultureKat - don't want to hijack your thread but while Porterbilt was posting on this thread I thought I'd ask.]

I also am gonna probably do the trailing arm rear.

I think Weedetr has a kit for the 55-59's that is about $950 but I don't know much about their stuff. They also have a kit for you guys with the earlier trucks but I don't know the price.

Talked to the Weedetr guy - Dale - by email. The kit for 55 - 59 is $938 and mostly bolt on.

I'll have to check that out I did lots of measuring andni think I can adapt the 69 trailing arms and maybe even the rear end to te 47 without spending a lot of money I'll keep you all posted.
