It's possible the firewall forward part will fit but I highly doubt any of the under dash or control sections from the 1500 will fit a square body.

Aftermarket under dash assembly used with the factory 1500 compressor, engine mount brackets & condenser would be your best bet.

hey 68tt my 78 came with factory ac so can i hook the 89 ac unit up to the 78 ac underdash and control sections thanks steve

Yes you can. I did it on my 86. You will need the hoses from a 1989-91 suburban with out rear air and if you use your 89 brackets it's a bolt in.

If I remember right they switched sides of the truck that the compressor was mounted on.

The compressor design is different too so the connector on the back is most likely different.
