1972 front grill
I am putting the grill back together and was wondering do I put the new plastic clips into the center grill and then into the outside grill and then put screw in the plastic clip to spread it and make it hold. I looked at my assembly manual but I am not sure.
Any help? 1972 truck long bed. |

Re: 1972 front grill
If memory serves me correctly the clips go on the outside of the plastic inner grill and into the outer. They will hold it in place then you'll need to install the screws.

Re: 1972 front grill
Correct, one you have the grill in place against the outer shell, you insert the plastic clips and they will hold the inner in-place while you install the screws. I just did mine this past weekend, it's a piece of cake..

Re: 1972 front grill
It must be too cold (40degrees) here because my clips will not push in so I guess I need to wait until it gets warmer. There is no secret to pushing these clips in is there?
I have another question. I replaced my radiator support and the voltage regulator on that support had bolts that connected it to the support that had rubber like washers or nuts with rubber around them. Do I need to put this kind on with mine? I just used bolts with nuts to connect. AM I missing something? |

Re: 1972 front grill
Mine were really tough also. I used a C shaped vise grip to help push them all the way in.

Take them inside overnight, then try a bit of silicone spray, and if I recall, they seem to like going in one direction over another, in that I mean it seems like the 4 side were a bit off center and fit in the recess of the grill better one way over the other.
