4X4 sport?
hey guys, i was just bored and messina round doin some stuff with my truck and i decided to look at the build sheet. i just happen to see that is said it had like a sport 2 tone package? ive seen things around the site about the sport trucks, but is there a difference between the full sport package and just the sport 2 tone paint? also its a 4x4 and im not sure but i think all the other sports ive seen on here are 2wds. its not a huge deal im just kinda curious as to what i have.

Re: 4X4 sport?

Re: 4X4 sport?
You most likely have a chevy sport option truck;Usually it will show z77 on the option sheet also;I have never seen a ZY6 paint as a stand alone option but it is possible; The chevy sport option was available on 2wd and 4wd short box trucks;I cannot see your vin but I assume you have a short box 1981 model; It should have black primary color with light silver lower;painted front bumper with impact strips;scottsdale package;hood ornament;dark gray grille; There may have been a second spid sticker that is no longer there that showed the rest of the options.....either way you have a rare truck.

Re: 4X4 sport?
well that is kind of interesting to know.the truck is a 1985 not a 1981 idk if that effects anything. ill post up a pic its been seen around here its the truck that i bougth after it caught on fire. it is spray bombed flat black and lifted up. i just noticed a pinstripe under the spraypaint and took a look at the options. but it does have the hood ornament and other things mentioned.
heres a pic of the truck now. maby someday it will be worth restoring to its former glory. |

Re: 4X4 sport?
The sport hood ornament would say "SPORT". I would guess ou might have parts from a sport, but not the whole truck. You could make a clone or tribute truck though. My '83 Chevy has a "Street Coupe" hood ornament, which was the GMC version of the Chevy Sport.

Re: 4X4 sport?
The ZY6 is listed as a two tone paint code on various lines over the years; It is interesting to see it listed as a"chevy sport" paint on your spid sticker;the last 73-87 full size trucks identified as chevy sport were in 1981.Your truck may have had striping as per enclosed layout;you can go to your chevy dealer and he should be able to look up your original stripe/color combo.
