<Sport mirrors?>

Are the small "sport mirrors" that are used on the older square bodys the same as was used on lets say el caminos chevelles. I have the spare set from my camino mounted on my truck right now and they just seem like they are not out far enough. And does any one know the measurements pf were they were mounted on the door?

Thanks this question has been naggin at me since summer.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

Acording to OPGI the correct mirror for a 72 camino is square with rounded corners looks like my mirrors are off some other GM make.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

I can check tomorrow on the location. I know one thing yes you will be sporty with them in heavy traffic cause you can't see sh*t. But they do look better than the Dumbo mirrors

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

I don't know about 72, but mid 60's to early 70's were round.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

Does that mirror have a bowtie on it? If not, I think you have 73-87 truck mirrors.

I did some research and it appears that the correct mirror for El Caminos was different from the Chevelle and Nova.

This comes up as the correct mirror 68-72 Chevy El Camino...

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

I know with my Camaro's & Chevelle's the round mirrors were 67 or earlier and the rectangular mirrors became standard on 68 & newer. Sounds like El Camino's were different. Probably close to the same with the trucks but you never know.

I have a set of the 68 Camaro ones in the shed so I will see how they look on the truck when I get around to doing the bigger sport mirror conversion and take some pictures.

That looks exactly like the ones on my 68 Camaro.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

My mirrors are much squarer than that.Looks like I have a set of truck mirrors. And I can't even see the passenger side mirror completely useless.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

They must not be mounted correctly. I have the same mirrors on my 77. They don't compare to dumbo's, but I can certainly see out of them.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

I have found that the 4" X 5 ½" Rectangular Stick-On convex mirror is the bomb for the small mirrors.

I love the look of these mirrors, but I would hate driving with them.

Those look a little low. The mirror head looks correct but the stem looks short. I have a new set of the correct ones, I'll look at them this evening.

Re: <Sport mirrors?>

No they are the same mirrors.Though when looking at them closer I think I have the LH side on the RH side and the RH side on the left.
