Headers for LS1?
Hey guys I'm putting an LQ9 in my 64 and am almost to the point where I can fire it up. I'm stuck at the point of headers now.. I cant exactly afford the Doug Thorley's. I have heard that the 98-02 F body headers will fit with modification. I'm looking for a bit more detail on specifically what brand of headers and what modification needs to be done, otherwise I'm probably going to just build a set even though I don't really have that kind of time right now. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Headers for LS1?
It can be hit or miss like Rob asked on the motor mounts. I am using mid length headers for a Camaro.
I made my own mounts and was able to get these to fit without any issues.

Re: Headers for LS1?
I am using hooker block huggers. You can get them on ebay for around $150, I believe I paid $175 for my ceramic coated ones.

Re: Headers for LS1?
I used the stock engine mounts and made the adapter plate. I'm looking to run long tubes if possible.

Re: Headers for LS1?
I just checked out their online catalog and didn't see anything about truck headers on there? I saw all the car ones though. Am I looking in the wrong place?

The pacesetters are F-body and require some manipulation of metal. I am using the DTs; click on link in sig to see many pictures of them on the truck and clearance.

Re: Headers for LS1?
I'd probably be leaning toward Pacesetters, even though those Thorley's look BEAUTIFUL. I just know that the Pacesetters are going to fit my budget much better. I'm just curious what metal work I would have to do to make the F body headers work? I am by no means afraid of metal work, but does the amount of work it takes to make them fit outweigh the amount of work it takes for me to just build a custom set? That's what I was planning on doing in the first place but then I heard about the F body option...

Re: Headers for LS1?
LS1 Pacesetter Coated RACE style Headers $395 shipped
Do a search on here and you will find pix of the needs of putting the Pacesetters on these trucks. The frame has to be cut and some of the tubes bent.

Re: Headers for LS1?
Been doing this price for a few months now. I would say thru the end of Feb at least. if we keep moving them we might extend it further.

Re: Headers for LS1?
something that is note worthy, is that your stock oil dipstick, and plug wires will not fit with the DT headers....might want to ask shon what he recomends, and how much extra that stuff is.
