I'd drop w/stock truck stuff or a Dropmember before I'd consider a Fatmans bolt-in kit for these trucks.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

They bolt in the factory holes much like the other replacement c.members.
They utilize smaller brakes than what 71-87 trucks came w/from the factory (which require different rotors & calipers).
They require MII specific a-arms (stamped or tubular).

The main benefit of these over OE components is they give you slightly more clearance @ the same 6" drop vs. OE c.member & arms.

Re: Fat man fab ifs

Fatman fab uses mustang 2 parts it will handle worse and probably ride like crap too.The reason the older car people love them is its a cheap easy way to remove a straight axle. They get a ifs front disc and rack and pinion cheap. It is a upgrade from a straight axle,But a newer truck like yours its kinda a dumb idea. You can get a dropmember and a everything needed for not much more it will ride better and not mess up your steering and suspension geometry.

Re: Fat man fab ifs

Most MII set-up's are engineered so the steering & geometry should be as good as a MII set-up goes (some even better).

I think they have their place. But, vs. an updated 71 & up GM truck suspension/brakes, I don't think they're worth it unless that extra ground clearance is worth the extra expense of having to get different control arms, spindles, calipers, & rotors.

If you have the money, the PB Dropmember or similar is the better direction.

Re: Fat man fab ifs

Your looking for a coilover setup correct? You don't want bags?

Are there any other options out there for someone that doesn't want bags?

Think you can run coilovers on one of the dropmembers.
