Question Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

Anyone know how many interior parts will interchange between an 89 crew cab and an 88 suburban? I know the middle seat in a suburban is split but would it still bolt up? Also what about the bucket seats up front...will they bolt in place of the factory bench?

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

I know for sure the front seats from the Suburban will swap. A lot of guys on here have done that one. The rear bench in the crew is the same as the front bench as well. I hope that helps some.

Oh, to the greatest board on earth!

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

I thought a bracket had to be made in order for the burb buckets to go into a crewcab.

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

There is a tab in the floor that will need to be grabbed (it's spot welded) from the donor or fabbed up for the inner seat tracks for buckets. IIRC, the front headliner and all but the rear trim and cab pillars can be used from the 'burb. If your CC has them use those.

The crew cab and suburban or the same up until the middle of the rear doors. Anything from the center forward will work for a crew cab. The headliners are different.

can the suburban headliner be cut and made to fit in the crew cab...I'm lacking a headliner board, and I'd really like to not have to make one...

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

The headliners wont work from a suburban. You would have to take a single cab headliner and cut it in half and then add the back half of that one to the suburban headliner.

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

Jay, you know where I can get one so I can see if it works...

I think for the trim, the a pillar, c pillar, and front and rear pieces are the same as a truck and the two side pieces over the doors and the b pillar trim is the same as a suburban...I really need to start working on mine...parting out this truck has taken away some time I could have been spending on it...I did get the motor and trans out of my dad's truck though and getting dad some money, so it's not a total loss...lol

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

The trim over the doors and on the "B" pillars are not interchangeable between the crew's & burbs.
The "C" pillar trim in a crew cab is the same as the "B" pillar trim in a regular cab as is the trim over the rear window, "A" pillars & front windshield.

In a suburban, the trim on the "B" pillar slides under the trim piece above the doors. On a crew cab it's just the opposite.
Also on the Burbs, the trim over the door extends just a bit farther back than on the crew cab.
In the crew cab there is a metal trim pice about 4-5" long that covers the gap between the "C" pillar trim and the trim over the doors.
As for the rear seat in a crew cab, most have a tilt forward back to gain access to the back of the cab under the rear window but the seat itself is stationary with no adjustment to it.

I have looked at 4 or 5 all the boards in the burbs are trashed. Jay

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

I've got a nice headliner (red)out of a burb along with most all the interior parts. I also have the pillar and trim out of a crew cab. Let me know if you would like pics or measurements. Later, Tom

Re: Crew cab/suburban interior swap?

Chuck,
Here's some pics of the crew cab stuff. One piece has a broken corner, crack in the middle and a broken out hole. The rest is just dirty. The white metal parts have light rust, that's why I'm including the blue ones. If you don't like the large white pillar parts, I have a set of burbs in red and tan. I'll PM you a price.
