Rear airbag setup

I got a question. I got a 1978 c10 stepside and im doing my suspension. I already did the front now to the rear . The rear is alreay lowered thats how it came when i got it. They took out leafspring and just left the long one and the little one. I wana put bag on the rear tho. What would be a good setup? I have heard of the air over leaf setup, is that ok? What would u guys recommend? And if i put airbags, do i have to add leafsprings?one ladt quedtion sorry. Does anyone know how many inches is lowered the way its setup now? Please help!!! Thanx

How far do you want the rear to drop, do you want the truck to lay frame or just be adjustable? I have done the bag on leaf but don't think it will drop all the way down. Let us know your goal for the height and then you will get opinions more suited for you goal. I have 4link cantilever on the rear of my 83 and my truck will lay on the frame which also requires a step notch and cut the bed floor or raise the bed floor.

I dont want to lay frame. Just adjustable so i can set it to a hood hight. Nothing to crazy.

I ran an AOL system in my 77 Cheyenne for several years and it worked great. I do recommend that you run a longer second leaf. In my system we ran the stock top and second leaf. What you have has the potential to warp or bend the top leaf.

N2trux i like that setup.now that i remember i seen pics before. What kit do u have? How much did ur setup run u? And u said to add one mre leaf too, so i would have threr in all correct? Will that be safe?

No that will not work. The bags are "helper" bags and do not have enough travel to lift the rear properly.

I used the Ride Tech AOL kit. LINK If you look at the last pic of my system note that it has the top tow long leafs. You need these two rather than a long and short one. I ran my system like that for several years and it worked great.

You are assuming he wants adjustable height air bag rear suspension. Since he said the truck is "already lowered," I assumed he was keeping it there and wanting to add helper bags.

So i visited the link u put. Now which one should i use? Theres different ones. And what if any modifications would i have to do? Do i have to c notch. Sorry to ask so much questions i just wana make sure to do it right.

My file shows I used an #ARK3004 Rear over leaf kit. Give Ride Tech a call and ask for Tony.

It doesn't shw in the pics, but we also added a 2" block. With that combo it would set the pumpkin right on the bed floor. We added a button bump stop and it gave about an inch of clearence.

I recommend you do a mild C-notch. Pull the bed and do it all at one time.

So u added blocks. Did u add shackles or anything else. How do i know how much c notch to do? I like ur setup and thinkng of going with it

Yes, I used shackles as well. You can buy a bolt in notch or build your own if you have the skills.

Ridetech sells a bolt in 4 link that will get it low but not lay frame and you don't have to cut the bed.

well im kinda in a budget so i think the aol system is would work better for my wallet and my truck.the other kit is like $2000.
