Wood Bed Strips
I am heading to Nevada in a month and want to order my wood bed strips in polished stainless to bring back from there and have narrowed my purchase down to Bed Wood and Parts out of Kentucky or Mar-K ( I know they are board vendors) and am wondering if any one has ordered bed strips from either of these places and whether their experience has been positive or negative.
After seeing the pic of Garys' ( GS1969) bed wood on the Fort Sale page I am going to go with White Oak for my truck and hope it turns out as well as his.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
I ordered mine from Mar-K. Probably one of the best transactions I have made with a vendor. Great folks up there with outstanding products. All of my bed parts fit perfectly, every single hole lined up exactly. Well packaged too.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
I'm looking for a bed wood kit so I did a price comparison for a short fleet using polished stainless strips and hardware with Oak wood. Classic Parts is $170 cheaper than Mar-K. That's a hell of a savings. Can someone attest to the quality of the Classic parts????

Re: Wood Bed Strips
I ordered from Mar K. Everything was fine. I failed to physically count the hardware that I had received. Finished the bed went to install it and I was short 4 bolts and nuts. In their defense there was a note to count all the hardware and check for damages and immediately call. Well by the time I figured out the shortage was a month later. I sent them an email which their reply was basicly I waited too long. I know it was my fault for not counting each and every bolt. But figured since I had bought front panel, tail gate, bedsides, strips and bed wood they would have sent me 4 polished replacement bolts and nuts. (more than $2,000) So count everything even the hardware immediately after you receive it. Don't assume like I did, a packaged non opened bag is complete. Everything I got was top notch stuff and well packed. I would order from them again.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
Here is a guy in Mo that sells on ebay. Has 100% approval rating. I haven't ordered from him but his prices and auctions and buy it now and prices are cheaper than most.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
Bought my oak from classic parts, it was very nice quality and it was the best deal around, I was close enough to drive down and pick it up though. My strips and other hardware came from Mar-K, great people to deal with. Shipping the wood could get expensive, check with your local suppliers/vendors first

Re: Wood Bed Strips
Thanks for all the input guys/gals. I will call Mar-K this week and see what kind of deal I can get from them. Mar-K is aboard vendor and I'd like to support the board vendors.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
We ordered the wood from Mar-K and the wood was great. It came with all the holes predrilled and since we are installing it now I will know here in a few days if everything lines up. The only issue we had is that the wood was a little thick for the angles that were on the truck. But with a little extra sanding and tlc we made it fit fine. I'm glad I read the other posts on this thread. Our bolts were delivered on Thursday and guess I have to go count them now lol.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
I expected the missing Mar-K bolt story would end..."who'd of expected they would send off four bolts with a hearty chuckle and no questions asked!"
It's funny that you can hear a dozen good things but just one minor criticism and their reputation slides, at least to me. It goes to show how treating a customer above and beyond the call of duty is its own reward and not going that extra mile will sometimes cost a lot more than shipping 4 bolts.

Being that this is the only negative thing I have heard about them, I would still buy from them again. I bought their stake pocket caps, and they are top notch quality and fit...you can tell they are made in the USA.

Re: Wood Bed Strips
I purchased my bed kit from Brothers, whom in turn aquired through MAR-K, so I am assumming they support allot of the major vendors that are out there. The kit was delivered in great shape and I was totaly saticefied. I recommend MAR-K.
