Best of Class. I didn't count how many trucks were in the "Conservative Truck - '57-'72" class, but I appreciate the award!

Joseph:

Sorry you couldn't make it. There was a lot to look at, but only five or six '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks and one '66 Panel. Several other trucks, but mostly fat-fenders and square bodies of all makes.

I am from Platte City originally, so I am familiar with Atchison, KS. I went there a lot in the mid-to-late eighties. If you are in KC, let me know and we can meet at the shop. I have two frame-offs, we are working on...'66 K10 & '66 K20.

Thanks for the compliment. Other than the temps dropping into the low twenties and 1" of snow falling on Sunday evening, just before the show ended, the show wasn't marked with anything too eventful, except my 2-year old son, Cole, having a meltdown when he saw Dora the Explorer and Boots characters and we had to leave. Also, we were walking along and Henry Winkler walked by us...my friend said "hey did you see the Fonze? He just walked by." I was too busy looking at the cars & trucks to notice.

Exiting the facility was rather eventful...watching several hundred cars, trucks, bikes and a lot of trailer queens leaving the facility with the snow flying. There were a lot of chilly, slippery rides home from Kansas City on Sunday evening.

I have owned two '66 Chevy C20 Custom Campers with that same exact bumper and a third truck with the same bumper. I don't think it was factory, however, after seeing a few of them, I am beginning to wonder if that style was offered at the dealer level. I have seen a very similar style in The Silver Book for the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, so they may be era-correct.

Did you have any specific questions about it? Of all of the rear bumpers I have had on these trucks, not including the factory sport bumper, I like this style the best. It is very functional, very heavy-duty and it has a very nice chrome finish on it.

Re: World of Wheels 2010 in Kansas City

I want one!
it sort of looks like some step bumpers that were on some of my dads 73-87's over the years...
I like the original fleet rear for asthetics, but they are pretty much useless as a step bumper, most 60-66 step bumpers I have seen wrap around the side of the box, which subsequently then damage the side of the box the first time they are hit.
this kind of bumper would be perfect on a truck that was being used as a truck, and not show only.

Re: World of Wheels 2010 in Kansas City

There are thousands of different bumper styles and hundreds of different suppliers, so I don't know where to begin. I did a google search for rear truck bumpers and there were many links. You might try DeeZee or Luverne, to start with.

Lee & Julie's '66 K10 did well, also. I am sure they will post some pictures. Their camera is a lot fancier than mine, so they take some pretty awesome photos.

Thumbs up Re: World of Wheels 2010 in Kansas City

I put up a couple of stories about the World of Wheels:

As usual, those red trucks looked great in there under the lights!
