Need help with electrical problem
I have bad eletrical connection somewhere in my 85 Suburban. It loses power just enough to shut down the engine and it does not happen consistently....I see the volt gage jump when it happens. I'm pretty sure its somewhere on in the main power wiring. Could this be a sign one of the fusible links is going bad? I'm going to double check the connections at the starter and alternator again, but I'm thinking I'm missing something. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!!!

On my 87 I had the same issue. Occasionally while driving usually after a bump my engine would die. The Positive wire that runs to starter has a connector on it were the wire goes from 12 awg (aprox) to 14 awg (aprox). My stupid connector started to corrode and at first I thought it was a fuseable link but after disecting it I found it was just a palin connector. So I cut it out and soldered the 2 wires together and weatherproofed it. The problem never reoccured after that

Weird thing is with this problem, I can go over bumps...I have to cross railroad tracks to get out of my neighborhood...and the truck is fine. When I get some free time at home I'm gonna check that connection and make a new fusible link.

check all the grounds. take them loose and clean them and reinstall. start with the simple stuff and you will usually find your problem.
