n00b post regarding leaf spring bushings
Sorry to sound like a n00b but here's my story:
Purchased a 71 K5 that had been sitting for quite some time. 6" lift put on by previous owner. He installed the wrong kind of shackle/leaf spring bushings that don't have a wide enough lip so the springs can slide all around. I am trying to find the right kind of bushings to purchase and replace with but I'm getting hung up on sizing. The frame bracket that the leaf springs bolt into has a 3.5" gap. The leaf springs are 2.5". So I figured all I would need to find it a set of bushings that will fill a 3.5" area with about a .5" lip on each side to properly secure the leaf springs. However, most places don't have any dimensions available or the dimensions are inside diameter / outside diameter or frame shackle bushing outside diameter etc. Is this just the diameter of the bolt that goes thru the bushing or what? Here's a pic of my problems, maybe someone can help steer me in the right direction: Thanks! |

Did you check Energy Suspensions website?

Re: n00b post regarding leaf spring bushings
Yeah I even called them and I think that part 3.2112 might work, but they did not mention the width of the lip. All they really gave me was the outer diameter of the different bushings in the kit: 1.1, 1.5, 1.8
I'm going to try and find a local shop that carries energy / daystar stuff so I can try a couple options. |

Re: n00b post regarding leaf spring bushings
can you contact previous owner and ask what brand lift he/she used? with that information you could acquire correct bushings for the leaf springs. possible correction to your problem. good luck.

Re: n00b post regarding leaf spring bushings
this is probably what you need...http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...product_id=107
this is what you use when you put 52" springs in the front of the truck...putting 52" springs in the front lifts the front 4" so the previous owner may have done that... btw, that site is a wealth of knowledge and the owner is always there to answer questions if you call... |
