Dyna-mat under Rubber Floor Mat

I'm going for the OEM stock look ans will be installing a rubber floor mat. However, because I have hearing aids I tend to like to keep the ambient sound down as much as possible. I understand that you can put it down in pieces I'll hide some behind the gas tank and front firewall, I'll try getting some on the door cavities, but was unsure of the floor area?

The dyna-mat that a lot of guts talk about and I've seen in the pictures, would it cause any fit problems for the rubber floor mat?

Dyna-Mat is somewhat thick so it may cause fit problems.

When I did my stereo install years ago I used what is basically bubble wrap that is coated in "aluminum" on both sides before installing a carpet kit. I slid the in cab tank forward and put it on the back of the cab and in the cab corners after spraying foam along the seams. Covered the tank as well. On the doors I put it on the outer skin as well as the back side of the door panel.

Did not do anything to the firewall as the factory pad was in place and in good condition. I used 3M spray carpet adhesive to make it stick.

This stuff was very inexpensive compared to Dyna-Mat and while probably not as good it has served the purpose for over 12 years just fine.

This along with re-routing the mufflers to under the bed made a HUGE improvement in reducing the ambient noise inside the cab. While before it was nearly impossible to have a conversation inside the truck while driving now you could do so with no issues and it helped to tone down the "tinny" sound inside which made the stereo sound much better.

I think a few of the guys have used some material from Lowes that is for roofing and is much cheaper. A search will probably turn it up. I can't remember the name...but then again, I can't remember mine half the time.

Peel and Seal. I used it on my Galaxie. Good Stuff.

We have put Peel-N-Seal in several 4-5-6 Chevy trucks with very good results and no odor issues. I have used Dyna Mat & Hush Mat and they are substantially more expensive, come in pieces that are too big to apply to the small areas and many compound curves in the cab of these trucks. My vote is for Peel-N-Seal for the money and the ease of application, and most importantly the end results.

P.S. - these trucks came from the factory with a thin white foam mat & asphalt-impregnated mat, below the factory floor mat to help with sound and temperature tranmittance. The factory material was thicker than the Peel-N-Seal, so fitment is not an issue.

Is there a product number available for the Peel and Seal? I would like to take a look at it up here in Canada but I don't know who carries it.

I'd like to comment that, although the consensus is for cheap in this economy, let's not forget about safety. Some are so concerned about fuel tanks being relocated out of cabs etc. All the while, there is no concern for cutting corners on the "Peel and Seal". If there is a fire in the cab, you probably won't die from the flames because you'll be dead from the toxic fumes given off by peel and seal in under a minute. This stuff is not meant for an interior automotive application, so know that going in. Rant over. On the flip side, there are some less expensive alternatives to Dynamat and the high end stuff. Raammat is one of them. It's cheaper, it comes in a LOOONG roll and it works. Take a look.

Thanks for your "rant". I saw a similar concern on a car audio forum while I was searching for the Peel & Seal.
To that end, I went to my local Lowes and Home Depot this afternoon and they don't have anything like the Peel & Seal up here in stock.
I will be looking around for comparable, safe products that I can put inside my cab.

I had good luck with the "raamat" and installed the factory rubber mat and jute with no problems. This certainly helped with noise and heat!
