What is the best tailight assembly to get?
My tailight assembly was toast in my 64 Fleetside, so I went to O'Reilly's and bought one of the generic GM tailite sockets....
It sucks!!! It does not work unless I wiggle the bulb around, and I have to keep pressure on it also...... So what is the best almost near OEM style taillite socket that I can buy/order to replace this and work. I don't mind paying for high quality items, so help a brother out..... thanks Chad

Re: What is the best tailight assembly to get?
NOS is always the best. I just checked eBay and didn't see anything. So the next best is used original. Ping up some of the guys here like 4-5-6 Lil Red and some others on Stovebolt and get some clean used ones. It's hit or miss with reproduction stuff. If it isn't "OER" -Original Equipment Reproduction--then you're just shootin' the dice. Sometimes you win, this time you lost.

you can check the fillingstation.com, or oldchevytrucks.com or parts123.com all have what you need. I've purchase many items from these companies. Oldchevytrucks.com is the cheapest for shipping of anything min $3 but they only charge the actual fee charged by UPS & USPS. You wont have anymore problems unless you have a grounding issue.

I replaced mine with new ones from classicparts.com. 2 new housings cost me about $30. I also bought 2 new bezels for $24, 2 new lenses for $20 and a new taillight wiring harnes for $40.

Good, used stuff is available and the best quality, fit & finish, since it is original equipment and requires no modifications. I have them, if you decide to go this route.

Re: What is the best tailight assembly to get?
I just got a full tail light assembly from LilRed66, just got it put in about an hour ago actually. Looked damned near brand new when I got it, and worked like a charm.
