Gas pedal linkage

When changing inline 6 to V8 , is there any changing you have to do to the gas pedal linkage to the carb?

By the way it is a 64

I dont know for sure, but if it is neccessary it's easy to do. I just made a link rod from 3/16th's rod tapped 10-32 on both ends and then added balljoint assemblies to either end. Heim joints would work also.

Yes, you will need to extend the rod either by welding or replacing it with a longer one.

When i got my truck, someone had already made an extended rod. A piece of all thread. Then a nut with a piece of all thread welded too it. The little stud fits in the carb linkage. It threads down the all thread and locks in place with an nut acting like a lock nut. Luckily you can't see any of that with the air cleaner over it. I did, lengthen the factory tab at the fire wall, that connects to the extended rod. I added about an inch to it. It made the gas pedal action in the cab closeer to the floor. Otherwise, if you wanted to carb to hit full throttle, the gas pedal would sit way off the floor. Very uncomfortable on the foot.
