Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I've been sanding and sanding and sanding on my hood to get the high build primer where I want it. Damn, these hoods are big and with a lot of nooks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Rebuilt the starter today. Brushes were ground down to nubs
Went to get gas and it wouldnt start back up. thought the battery was toast but a diff battery showed otherwise.

Napa couldnt even find anything for a starter on a 305 v6. All they could find was stuff for a 305 v8. Finally a mechanic from the back came out and grabbed some brushed out of a box and said "Here's what ya need" No computer and parts book needed. If it wasnt for him the ladies at the counter woulda been tryin to sell me a whole starter for $90.00 that MIGHT be the rite one! The brushes only cost me $3.65

[vent] Nothing cause mother nature is a tease. It's 60 and sunny at 2 this afternoon and by the time I get home at 5 it's 40 and breezy. Now it's sleeting sideways with predicted snowfalls of 2 inches over night. Supposed to be back to 60 when I go back to work on Monday. [vent off]

What did you use for your donor tailgate? I'm guessing 88-98 C1500 but want to be sure. I've been wanting to do the same thing. Looking good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got the wiring harness out of the new (used) cab and put the new firewall pad in (what a pia) and loosely installed steering column and ready to put my harness in the new cab.

I was gonna try and use the new harness but it is different than mine and has other options I don't need plus I onlt got the inside part not the matching exterior harness.

I don't want any surprises later. I know my original harness is good so gonna use it.

Hey, progress is progress. I sat on my ass all day and watched it rain
I was hoping to get out and finish up painting my bed, but mother nature said no. This weeks project: find some new tires and rims (easier said than done), and get the damn thing painted.
