Anyone in Texas looked into this?

I've been searching for a dash pad for the 85 since it has the typical cracking. Came across this link in CL.
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/1660013245.html

Gave the guy a call as his work looks better than some aftermarket examples that ask for more money. Doesn't do paypal,(yet), so I hesitate.

Just curious if anyone here has checked it out. He is in Houston area. Looking at the pics and the photobucket link it has shows he is talented at upholstering.

He did say he had heard of this forum and was considering coming on-board. I encouraged him to do so as his work appears to be quite a good alternative to some of what I have seen so far in dash pads.

The price includes the face plate.

I saw them on C/L but that's about it. He does some nice stitch work that's for sure.

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

Here is the link if you click on the pics:
http://s890.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=IMGP0862.jpg

Apparently he is not computer savvy, but admits he needs to learn. Never shipped anything as he always has been cash & carry.

Houston is a bit far for me to carry cash these days.

Still, it was worth talking to him. Still pondering the options for the dash.

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

Oh, cool
thanks!
The wife and I just picked up some black textured vinyl tonight to try our hand at covering a dash. If it turns out well, we are going to do some matching accents on the door panels.
If you check with a local upolstery shop you will probably be able to get your dash covered for half of what that guy is asking. Just a thought....

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

ive seen his adds on CL, his work looks good, judgin by the pics.

my dashpad is beginning to crack, ive soaked it with armor all lets it sit over nite and its helpin, but not as much. so im just gonna wait till all the oils get dried out and cover the whole dashpad with fiberglass.

has anybody tried this before, or will i be the first?

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

Thanks for the offer!

If you do find this is something you might do 'pm' me. I understand there are those hesitant or without resources to learn on-line commerce. Hell, I don't like paypal but use it when its necessary. Yet his inexperience in shipping procedures was a concern too. No fault to the man, just the way it is; he is working for a local market and then I call from Illinois! Over the phone he really sounds like a nice guy who takes pride in his work and that says a lot.

I think I might try showing a picture of his dash work to one more local upholstery shop in the area that claims experience in automotive work. So far I've gotten blank stares from the ones I've spoken to on such a project.

Yet if you do find this is a trip you might make to check out the product...let me know.

I know what LMC wants for one and his product just looks better in my opinion only.

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

I've seen his posts before on CL and have been really tempted to call. He does seats as well http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/1660020694.html

Cherub, if you go out there and don't mind ask him if what he'll charge to recover a seat if we take him one or exchange it for one of his

Re: Anyone in Texas looked into this?

Welcome! Hope you don't mind my spreading the word around here this week-end on your great craftsmanship. I'm the guy that called you from Illinois on Friday about a dash.

Seriously, if I can't find someone around here to do anything even close the quality of what you do, a friend in Houston you already spoke to this week-end will buy one from you for me!

Great to see you made it here. Best of luck always!
