Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
I would get rid of the carb. Lots of better then holley for racing. Try a QFT or one from carb shop specialist. You may be surprised at the difference.

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
For a custom made carb you can go to a company called pro systems. Tell them everything about your combo/vehicle and patrick will custom build one specifically for your combo. The throttle response is crazy. Here is a video of how responsive his carbs can be. at 50 seconds and a little over a minute into the video. I was VERY IMPRESSED. I'm sure you will be too

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
Went to the track on friday in the rain. Rain finally cleared up around 7:30 and got a couple runs it, 7.963, 7.966 and 7.901. Not too bad considerin all the humidty.
Saturday's 1st points race, ran a 7.811 @ 88.36 1st time run. Then a 7.807 @ 88.37 2nd time run. Suprised the heck outta me. Dialed her in at 7.79 for first round. Cut a .063 light then some how missed 2nd gear, so of course I bought back in. Still dialed in at a 7.79. 2nd round cut a .050 light and I reckon some thing went hay wire, ran a 7.96 @ 86.940, buddies said it sounded like a I bumped the rev-limter in 2nd and 3rd. Needless to say I put her on the trailer and went home. The new fuel pump deffently helped out a bunch. Deffently happy with it and never had to break out a wrench the whole weekend! Just need to work on the monkey behind the wheel, lol. Getting the cage put in it next weekend. I agree the carb needs to be upgraded, It's a 750 holley that's been re-worked by barry grant. Thinkin about upping the jets next time i head to the track. Its jetted square at 71's with 6.5 power valves front and rear. Those pro systems look impressive, I'll be sure and check them out on down the road. Money's a little tight right know cause of the cage. Chris.

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
I would LOVE to see what happens with a little more carb. I think it's going to wake things right up.

The carb in the video is what they call a toilet bowl carb rip. It's the SV1 from pro systems. Glad yall liked it. Still had some nice runs, glad to see the fuel pump helped you out. Shawn

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
Its been a long week, but I've got a cage and am finally in the Classic Gear Jammers!!! Ordered the cage from S&W Racer Cars. Came in Wednesday evening. Got it back from my chassis guy at 4:00pm Friday. Loaded up and pulled into the track at 8:45. Made two runs, both 7.88's thankfully. Put it back on the trailers and went to a buddies house to put the driveshaft loops in it. Got done around 6:00am sat. Slept for 3 hours the back to the track. Passed tech with flying colors. Made it to the 2nd round with the Gear Jammers Sat, went -.004 red. Finally got some sleep Sat night. Made it the 3rd round Sunday foot brakin', missed 2nd gear. Still gotta paint the cage and floor, make a back glass, and mess with the shifter some but overall an excellent weekend. Here's some pics of the cage. Thanks for all the help yall. Chris.

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
71chevytruckguy - is your main hoop tied into your frame or just the rear bars?

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
Main hoop, front and rear bars go to the frame. The center bars coming off the main hoop just got to cab floor. Don't know why he did that way but I was in a bind on time so not complain that much about it. Heading to Roxboro this weekend, hoping the rain stays away. Chris.

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
Nice 60's. I know its a big some of money but the 406's need more intake runner and valve size. I would look at some 220cc w/ 1.08 or 1.10 valve. If all you do is drag race the truck then look at a Holley pro Dominator dual quad set up and put a couple of 600cfm on it. Or my favorite single plane the Brodix HV1000. Super 73 is a suspension god. He has helped me out a bunch. What ever you can pick up down low you are going to gain on top. just my 2 cent. good luck

Re: Finally Broke The 7's!!!
Thanks yall. Wish I had some good news from weekend but the rain got the best of us. Made the 1st round then the bottom fell out and they called the race. Gotta love driving 200 miles to get rained out, Oh well.
I've been thinking about locking the timing out. Got to talking with some fellow racers and they said it would help make it more consistent. What's yalls take on it? Chris.
