A lot of you have given me input on getting the TBI working again so I figured I would start a project thread showing my progress. This will be slow as funding becomes available so bare with me.

The truck is an 87 silverado with stock 305. The previous owner swapped the 305 for a 92 350. I have been piecing the TBI system back together and hopefully have it working again. There is almost zero rust in this body, other than a few dents and dings the body is in good shape.

Started the body work. I am taking it in pieces, cab and bed. Removed the trim and pen stripes, roughed up the factory paint with 180, and cut the right rear be panel out for replacement. This is my first time using epoxy primer and I do not like spraying the stuff. I could not get a good wet coat on it spraying a 1.6 tip.

Finished with PPg epoxy primer.

I still cant figure out what is wrong with the fuel guage. I really hate to pull the sending unit and replace it unless I know for sure that is the problem. The video shows what the guage does with the ignition on and then running. It starts at 3:00 and drops to about the fuel level, then returns to the 3:00 position. You can hear the fuel pump running in the background. Anyone have a answer what the problem is. I have checked the connections and everything appears to be ok.

The fuel guage thing could be an intermittent grounding issue. When I replaced the tank in my truck, I didn't get a good ground and the fuel guage would peg high. There is some dampening built into the gauge so you don't see every slosh over every bump and around every corner. If the ground is intermittent, that could explain the needle going up and down.

Got the bed off this weekend and first round of 2K on the bed. As you can see I forgot to stuff my taillight holes.

After block sanding.

After close inspection, I decided to strip the hood. This is proof of why bare metal is better, you never know whats hiding under the paint.

On a side note, it looks like I have an additional project. The wife had a little accident at the inlaws.

I have been out of touch for a while but have some updates on progress. Got the jeep damage repaired and went back to work on the truck. I had a mishap when I sprayed the bed (the seals failed in my gun and had a bad case of fisheye) so it is a do over.

I went ahead and painted the interior to test my new seals out.

Finished all the prep work on the cab. The doors where in bad shap

Final two coats of 2K and wet sanded to 400. It turned out pretty smooth.

Cab in epoxy sealer.

Nest step is to get the cab in red so i can put the glass back in.

I also picked up a set of rally wheels. Sandblasted and painted. I went back and forth between matching the truck color or back to silver. After the feedback from here I went with silver.

Finally got some piant on the cab. The weather screwed me and got hot to fast so had some orange peal but other than that turned out good.

Trimmed the doors out with all new weatherstripping including vent windows (pain in the ass). Only problem is the power window motors are too weak against the tight seals.

reinstalled the door panels. I did a color change on all the pieces from the dark blue to black.

Just FYI for anyone looking. The door seals on newer chevys fit great. I got a perfect set from a late 90s at the pick-n-pull from 20 bucks.

Got more done on the truck. Bed painted, stereo installed, and wheels and tires on. Getting close now.

The rest of the stereo in. And yes they are 14 year "old school" kicker comps. The amp and cross-over are "old school" also.

I blacked out the grill and surrounds.
