66 swb frame
can any one tell what the diff is between a 66 gmc fraME and 66 chevy frame.short frame?I know about the coils vs springs,anything els?

Shouldnt be anything I can think of except what you mentioned....maybe the emergency brake configuration due to the coil/leaf difference???

I was told the suburban frame and the short bed frame are the same.Is that true?Im turning my 3/4 into a short bed.just got a bed,now looking for a frame.dont want to cut down the 3/4 frame.

The Suburban frames are the same 115" wheelbase, but the body mounts are different from the rear cab mounts back. The rear frame ends are designed for mounting a bumper similar to the front, whereas a pickup rear frame ends are just cut square.

so the cab mounts and the bed mounts are going to have to be changed?what about the radiator mounts?the only reason im asking is a guy down the way has a gmc frame for 2 bills.and i want to say thanks for the pics you sent me shorting the frame.

The radiator mounts on the Suburban frames are a little different than the pickups. The Suburban mounts on the frame have a piece of rubber bonded in the center of them. Much like the C20 and up rear cab mounts. So this GMC frame is a Suburban frame? No problem on the pics.

That should work as long as it is a 1/2 ton 115 inch wheelbase. I forgot to mention before that there were 3/4 ton and 1 ton Suburbans and panels built that were a longer wheelbase
