Exhaust kits?

Looking for a low budget exhaust kit for my '63. It has a 327 with shorty headers. Iv'e got to put something on before the neighbors show up with shovels and pitch forks. Anyone know where I can find a reasonably priced kit? Thanks.

I don't know about inspection laws in your state, but Cherry Bomb sells mufflers that bolt right up to your header's collectors. Advance Auto Parts sells them.

.....those arent shorty's, they are block huggers. You will need a 90* out of the collector. You can buy pieces and make your own; I've never seen a kit specifically for these trucks.

Unfortunatley that wont work. My header flanges point down. Similar to pic. Maybe I should look for a bend tube and then put bombers on it?

Yep huggers. Got my terms crossed. Where can I order parts, bends and stuff? What I'm after will be pretty simple. Just a couple 90's, two mufflers and a bend out in front of the tires.

You'd probably be dollars ahead to go to the exhaust shop, but if you want to mess with it you can order stuff from Summit. They offer the collector flanges, 90's, 45's, and even 180's that can be cut for strange angles. You just have to decide what size pipe you need and go from there.

Ultimatley I'd just take it to a shop and have them done. To do so I'd have to trailer it. I could make it legal but it would require me to install a windshield which I don't want to do until it has been painted. I'll check out summit. Thanks

Have you tried a "mobile exhaust" company, yea I know, do what?! I dint know they existed either until I asked a local mechanic. This guy here has a trailer that he drives to your place, drives the vehicle up onto the trailer and gets started.

If you really want to do this on a budget, yet end up with a custom exhaust, you can get to know some local muffler shops and see if you can buy or take away their scrap bends, lengths and cuts in the diameter you want to build your exhaust. I've built the last several exhaust systems for myself and customers from scrap tubing in my own shop, as well as scraps from a few fellow fabrication shops. The 90-degree downtube might be a little tough to find an exact pair in the same radius and length, but a pair can be bent or bought for a few dollars. Good luck and post some progress photos.

Dude, unless you live in an area where the law is lurking for law breakers like you, put on a pair of goggles and drive it to a shop. I have done it here a couple of times with hardly a second look and I live in a very populated area. I am all about do it yourself and especially saving money. I had a complete exhaust, minus the muffler, which I already had, done with a 2.5" stainless tip for less than $200 on a V8 280Z. Take it to a reputable shop and you are done in an afternoon with a solid system and it is over. Some things are just better done by professionals.

Wow. Thats would be the best senerio for me. I never heard of it before. I'll look into it.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I don't think doing the fabrication on my own is something I should do. My learning curves usually cost me more money in the end
