Driving
130+ in my old 06 Impalla SS. Riding I went on a ride along with the Nebraska State Patrol and he hit 140's chasing some sports car. That was awesome. I have learned to keep my foot out of it and stay under 90.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
135 on a bike, 150ish in a 2002 camaro ss with a bunch of goodies.
BUT the real fun was the time I was clocked at 120 and gaining in my '71, it was very dark and I saw a car trying to catch up and thought it was somebody trying to race. Turned out to be a MO State Trooper. He couldn't believe the old truck could go that fast and made me open the hood. He ticketed me for only 83mph for which I was very thankful!

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
Let's see in my 68 C10 lwb 130 - 140ish by guestimation when the speedo was buried and bouncing between 100 and 20 on the speedo *fun and scary at the same time*, 2002 Camaro Z28 after dynomouth and slp cai kit and lid 145 *really scary*, 2005 Pontiac GTO M6 yellow bone stock 165 *very fun, stable and not scary*, 160 in my dad's 99 Corvette coupe M6 *felt very similar to the GTO except more wind noise*... 140 in the 08 Honda Civic Si Sedan *a little scary but not too bad* and I was 90+ in an 88 Chev 3/4 ton standard cab long bed when I was 18... When I was 16, I was driving a dodge d50 pick up 4 cyl 4 speed manual, and managed to get that pos up too 90 *pushing it badly*.... Luckily I did not get pulled over for the triple digits *automatic arrest, lose license, vehicle impounded and huge fines*... Largest ticket I ever got was 93 in the 05 GTO *beat that*....
Cheers, Charlie

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
74 chevy Nova, i had a worked up 350 in. 5 spd tranny. the speedo read 120 I was about an inch passed that when I let up on the pedal. So I'd say, at least 130-140 mph. Hard to tell when you pass up the speedo's reading.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
160 MPH on my old crotch rocket ,had a 88 mustang gt that only had 85 on speedo but they said 144 mph was top speed and I definently hit top speed many times. had both around 1990 when I was about 19 years old and I drove like a fool ,its amazing I lived to see my 30's. Nowadays I just want to run 70 mph but still enjoy getting there really fast some times.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
118mph in my 1993 Honda Accord (it took a while to get there) for about 30+ miles. It could have gone higher, but that was the speed the limiter kicked in. Car drove very nice at that speed, could definitely cruise that way for many more miles.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
As a fellow who spent way too much time on an ambulance early in my career, I hate to read that. Personally, the patient living or dying isn't near as important as my partner's lives are. Those guys are human pinballs if you ever crash a box. Screw the patient, protect your brothers. No sense risking 3 lives to possibly save 1 life. Nice and easy does it.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
I broke the needle off of the 100 mph speedo in my 77 monte carlo years ago. It had a 327/350 that was modded a bit, prolly more like 375-400hp, and it had 2.53? gears. It was a dog off the line, but it screamed on the top end. No idea how fast it really was.
My 85 Z28 was the same way. Had a ZZ3 in it with headers and an edelbrock cat-back, 700R4 and 3.08s with a lame 85 mph speedo. No clue how fast that car would go either, spent many nights on the interstate with the speedo buried just because I could. In the last 5 years, I'd guess the fastest I've been was probably 110 mph in my 92 Roadmaster while on the tollway. I generally stick to about 5 mph over the limit now.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
When I was in high school, there was Dodge Super Bee, can't remember what year, but it seemed like every kid in school owned it at one time or another. Whenever one kid would get too many tickets, he'd sell it to the next sucker.
That was the fastest car I've ever been in-I guess in the 140-150 range, but I was never driving. I had a '68 Nova at the time-this was in the mid '70's, and I could get it up to 120 or so. Now I drive a '06 pooper duty company truck and it seems to be governed at about 98 or so. I like to make sure the gov. is still working once a week or so

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
September 29th 2001 I hit 86 in a TBI'd GMC TopKick U-Haul. hehehe
we were moving my family and the in-laws from Waukegan Il. to SD. the MIL had trouble getting the old 26 footer past 70 while I was driving my 89 Grand Am. I pulled over, bypassed the governor, and switched places with her. about 4 years ago I hit 85 in a customer's early 70's Dodge class C motorhome w/ 440. he said when he gets to 85 it looses power. sure enough it did in fact. when I got back i noticed the driver's side U bolts were missing!!!!! |

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
i think the fastest that i've gone that i can remember to date is 130 in the mrs 2001 acura tl with her about to end my life. ah that was fun. but one thing i miss having is a fwd 5 speed car for road handling. when i still had my 93 frod probe i used to go out late at nite out of boredom and just tear up some of the back roads here on whidbey. that thing got twitchy at 100+. i think thats cause the govner kicked in at about that or so.

Re: What's the fastest speed you have ever gone?
130ish in a Lexus SC400, and 145 in a mid-90's Z-28. Nothing special when compared with some other stories, except I was test-driving them both from dealerships at the time. The salesman was disappointed when I backed out of the Lexus, but I was on a 2 lane road, and regardless of how young and dumb I was, I didn't like taking somebody else's life in my hands that way.
These days, I keep it to 10 over if anybody is in the car with me, and 15 over on empty interstates when I'm by myself.

Last night my mom got us up to 120 in her 2010 camaro. It still had a lot left but she was too chicken to go faster.
