Routing Lines to Front Air Bags...What did you do?

I am trying to route my plastic lines to my front air bags. Does anybody have pics of how they routed their front air lines to front. I have seen pics of how folks are getting the line to the bag.......but how did you route and mount the lines that go to the front.

I am installing an accuair system, my ECU and the valve block are mounted behind the drivers side rear fender, tucked high up against the bed floor. I dont want to route them on the outside of the frame rails, inside the frame rails i have the exhaust to contend with.

Anyways, what did you do to get the line to the bag?

I ran mine inside the frame rails and put the lines inside of rubber fuel hose to protect them from heat, road debris or anything else.

How does the line go from inside the frame rail to the crossmember?
I thought about routing it that way but the line comes pretty close to the header down tube and it doesnt really look right. how much heat can these plastic line handle?

Can you get me a pic of how your line routes around the frame?

Re: Routing Lines to Front Air Bags...What did you do?

I am using kevlar braided sheathing to protect the lines and harnesses from road debris and chaffing. Due to the way my headers drop down it doesnt leave me many options going inside the frame rails. i have considered routing them on the outside of the frame rails but I dont like the way it looks. i would like to keep everything neat and tiddy.

i am considering drilling a hole through the lower frame flange where is bends up to meet the front suspension. I can use a reamer to oblong the hole so the lines will be able to remain straight going into the front cross member. this way i wont have to bend the line around the frame rail, next to the header down tube, and then make the turn to get into the front cross member.

At least thats the plan, unless someone can suggest a different option.

nice. i like the braided line. i am going to try and run hard lines from my valves eventually and i thing i am going to terminal them with flex lines like that.

i finish the install last weekend. i ended up using a 500 deg sheathing to protect the lines from the exhaust. and bushed the tubing with rubber hose going through the crossmember. its over kill, but its temporary until i finish out the hard lines.

I ran mine out the drivers side of the crossmember. I covered the passenger side all the way through the crossmember with 3/8" fuel line and also a short piece on the drivers side line. Sorry for the crappy phone pics.

I used 2 bulkhead fittings and 4 elbows to run them through the crossmember.

Thanks for the pics.

I thought about the bulkhead fittings, but it would have been difficult to drill the holes since my truck is a daily driver and still completely together. I may add that later though. Hart_Rod, weren't you installing a Accuair system? Did you get it finished?

I ended up using a rubber hose on mine going into the crossmember like Ram-Man did.

I drilled mine with everything together, you can access it from the bottom. My accuair setup is complete, minus tidying up some wiring.

I just finished installing my accuair system sunday. Its pretty slick, but its kind of quirky.

I was going to see what you thought about the system.

Re: Routing Lines to Front Air Bags...What did you do?

quirky as in....when i air up, the rears naturally come up first, then the fronts. but when the fronts get up the back has to make minor adjustments, then the front will make minor adjustments.....until its happy. i have turned off ridemonitor, activestart, and ride height on start. i also slowed down the adjustment frequency and the accuracy.

it seemed like it was always adjusting in traffic or parked in a parking lot, whenever. it was causing the compressor to come on way too much for a daily driver, considering i wasnt changing the ride height.

since turning all that off the compressor only came on once since monday with no adjustments.....which makes me think i have a leak, but i cant find one.

i am still learning the system myself, this is my third day driving it since i got finished.

You would think that the front would air up first and then the rear, since the front is usually at a higher pressure. The minor adjustments are due to rear being all the way up, which is adding more weight on the front (cg is forward). As the front comes up, the cg shifts aft requiring adjustments front and rear. You would think that they could program it to come up together, which would minimize the adjustments, but that might require some serious programming....

Instead of turning the monitoring off, just adjust the sensitivity. Depending on your gas mileage, the weight will change while you drive it. Also, every time you get in or out it's going to make an adjustment for your weight. If you think you have a leak, mix up some soapy water in a spray bottle and check all of your fittings. It took me a while to track a few down. Just some thoughts.

Re: Routing Lines to Front Air Bags...What did you do?

I just resprayed soap and water tonight, since the last post. and i could find a leak on the tank side.....or the rear bags, cant see the front fittings.
it makes me wonder if trash is in the valves, letting something on the tank side leak.

i ran all 1/2 aluminum hard line on the tank side, ending with a -8AN "T" that split into the two inlet ports of the accuair valve. so i have max flow rate into the valve. the backs have the shortest run and is much lighter than the front. it actually carries momentum up and has to settle, which is what i suspect to be part of the problem.
