Where to connect the tach?
Ok, this is kind of a dumb question but where do you guys connect a tach when your doing a tuneup or checking the timing? The last time I did anything like this, there was always a separate ign coil to connect to. With the coil integrated on top of the distributor, where is the best place to connect?
TIA Steve

Re: Where to connect the tach?
on an HEI dist there is a marking on the top of the coil cover telling you which one is the tach, one says Batt the other is Tach
It is right beside the power wire for the distributor

Re: Where to connect the tach?
As Burlinator said it is under a square part that sticks out from the distributor cap. Here is a picture to give you an idea. See the square with the wire coming down. There is a spade connected under there for the Tach.

Re: Where to connect the tach?
I guess it's safe to say that an old meter with alligator clips won't work without some 'tweaking'

Re: Where to connect the tach?
Sure it will, you would just need to clip it to the right spade under the distributor there.
