Over heating with Vortec Heads

I just rebuilt a generation one 350 and used a set of 1996 Veotec heads. I am having problems with it over heating. I have good flow of coolant in the radiator, and I have tried cooler thremostats. There is no compression in the radiator. I used the head gasketes for the gen one engine should I have used different? I am grasping at straws any advise would be appreciated.

Re: Over heating with Vortec Heads

Is it actually overheating or does the gauge just say so ? The original sensor that's in the vortec head I don't think will work in our trucks .

Welcome to the site.
You can upgrade to a 454 radiator. Are you using a stock 3 core copper radiator? Are you using a shroud on the fan? We need more details. What is the "hot" indicator on the gauge?
