Re: how about pics of 73-87 rat rods

Here is mine before I tore it down. I painted it black with some flattening agent in the clear. The letters were stencils with single shot.

Re: how about pics of 73-87 rat rods

I've said it once and I'll say it again.....painting a rig flat black with red wheels, spiderwebs and other "gimmicks", doesn't make a ratrod.......
The rat rod "look" is kinda dumb...IMO. Being a hotrodder myself, I hated when people called my traditional hotrod a rat rod....the uneducated public buys into everything they see on TV and jump on the bandwagon...the rat rod fad is a joke and the fad is so played out..
And referring to any car newer than 1950 as a "rat rod" is an oxymoron anyway....
Rat rods are cobbled together POS's....
Sorry, those "terms" kinda hit a nerve...haha...

Just my .02, from someone who acquired a ratrod "look" truck that's going to be SAVED!.

Re: how about pics of 73-87 rat rods

I've never liked the term rat rod either. I've had alot of hot rods and pieces of ****s but never a rat rod. This is actually the first squarebody I've got to build. Before this I had a 53 plymouth hrdtp. I'm feeling the itch to maybe get something old again

I understand if you dont like the term but to call someone uneducated because they have a flat black truck and red wheels is a little harsh. The general public is known to abuse terms. The motorcycle business is loaded with them. I considered myself educated in several different areas. I did not term my truck as a "rat rod" I was just mearly posting pics of a style that I thought the author of the post was asking for. My truck no longer looks like that and is being restored back to its original form as a factory "sport" truck.

To each thier own but just as the term rat rod pushed a button with you, calling people uneducated because of a style they like pushed a button with me. I dont mean to pick a fight, I think this forum is a great bunch of people.

Thanks
