Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
Have not seen many 8" lifts on the forum. Does anyone have pics of the 8" lift and 33" tire setup?

Why would you put 33s on a truck that has an 8" lift? 33s will clear a stock truck. Both of these trucks have roughly 6" and 35s, might give you an idea.

I think the reason no one has done that is because of the looks...as in it looks bad. Sorry but its the truth.

Here's another one with about the same. Different style truck tho but gives you the idea. 8" of lift and 33" tire, too much lift not enough tire IMO.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
just an opinion, but not a good look. If this is an off road only rig there are some long travel set ups that would get you the travel you need but less lift for low center of gravity. Just an fyi, a lift kit doesnt add ground clearance, thats where bigger tires come in handy.

33's with an 8inch lift is a bit extreme though.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
yeah a lift kit lifts your T case mount which is very important when it comes to high centered. I run 4 inch of lift with 34's and don't rub even on full stuff with a flexy suspension. I think 6 inch of lift and 35's is a bit on the high side but 8? Unless you want your truck to look lifted it is not a good look. It will look like your running rollers or saving for bigger meats.
To each there own!

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
Why not just not lift it and buy 14" Nissan wheels and tires. That`ll give a similar look.To each their own,but for me what looks good is the body fitting the tires.Tall and lanky is for off road clearance when flexing.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
I have a 4" with 35's if you want pics of that? I know the look you want and I think a 4" with fat 33's will get you there. anything more and you will look like a valley that lifted his truck but never got the budget for new rims and tires!!

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
I've got 36's now on 8" and im not liking the look, I like more of a gap in between tire and fender trim. I dont think 35's would do it.

See if you can get someone to photo-shop it for you, I've seen some pretty amazing work around here with that. A 33-15.50 super swamper is pretty meaty.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
I`m sorry if I came off the wrong way.It must be a real local California (as in not in most of the state) thing because I`ve never seen this combo except where someone was saving up for tires that go with the lift.Maybe you could snap some shots for us to see. It`s only my opinion, but I`ve looked at enough trucks to already know what it looks like.I remember when Dick Cepek was making the fatter/lower profile tires before anything more than a 4" lift was unheard of.I just don`t have any pictures of this and have never seen any on this board.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
i dont think its a cali thing. tho i am in nor cal where its more hardcore rockcrawlers. the combo does remind me of all those lame ass "bro" trucks with 14" IFS lifts and tires around 33"-40"
i run a 6" lift with 38's...granted the 38's rub, its nothing a lil bit of triming in the right places wont fix hahaha Last edited by 70 beast; 06-03-2010 at 10:58 PM. |

Let's keep this on the civil side - where it is now - we all have different likes and dislikes.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
i went 6" to keep my center of gravity low when on trails and plus im going to run 37" tires later so trimming will be minimal.
8" is too much in my opinion for anything but a street queen. but i have seen trail rigs that will tear up a trail with taller lifts...to each there own. |

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
Something not yet mentioned...An 8" lift on a short Blazer is call for a lot of extra work. The drive shaft angles will be seriously steep.Custom driveshafts are called for.The vehicle will be seriously unstable on road at hiway speeds, too.I just picture a rollover waiting to happen.Figure with that short wheelbase your high-center liability is largely reduced making less lift for same results possible.I`ve had a Blazer with 7" of lift and 37s.They never rubbed And there was no trimming.I did lay that one over once.I`ve also had a Blazer with about 2" of lift up front and 33s on 10" wheels. It drove real nice, looked great according to all the comments.and could go anywhere all the guys with lifts and the same tires could go.There would always be that one place mine might high-center,but pretty rare...I never saw it.I don`t rock crawl. The axles have the same clearance.
I`d still like to see pictures.I have never seen this look before.

Re: Any pics of Blazer's or trucks w/ 8" lift on 33" tires
Those look like 35s to me.
The reason there are no pictures being offered is because there`s nobody here that runs that combo.I think the reactions come from just reading the title and seeing 33" tires and 8" lift together. It`s like,"Huh?" This is because with all the conversation and knowledge learned here and brought here from elsewhere it`s common knowledge that this combo serves no practical purpose.I mean,it`s not necessary so we just wonder why it`s being done.If it`s a look some folks somewhere have come up with then more power to ya.We all like different things, ust like some would never cut a fender.I did for years but when these trucks became more classic and to be cherished I stopped and the trucks went up a couple more inches even though I like the tires filling-in more.If I built a trail rig I`d cut sheet metal in a heartbeat. That`s a rig where function is the key and it`s not like I`d expect the sheet metal to stay prestine anyway.Matter of fact,I have a rusty parts Blazer I`d never consider restoring and I`m thinking I may build a trail rig.Dents,rust...what`s the difference.I want mud all over it anyway. Most of what`s rusted will get chopped off for better clearance anyway. But,I`m building something for looks than that means a 4wd that`s mostly street. Then safety and handling become more important functions so going higher than necessary is out for me.It doesn`t even matter that I think it`ll look like crap.
