parts

where is the best place to get new parts. i need front fenders and variuos other parts, i have some catologs from lmc ecklers and brothers but is there another place that may be cheaper? i also have a gaping hole in the inside
just above the drivers door it is about a foot long and maybe 4 inches tall
and it takes up some of the door frame where the weatherstripping would attach i will try to post some pics if i can remember how but in fixing the hole
do i need to take the entire roof apart?

thanks
josh

Re: parts

My experience has been that Chevy Duty (now Classicparts.com) has the best pricing, good service and quality products.

http://www.classicparts.com/

I have purchased quite a bit from American Classic Truck parts,

http://www.americanclassic.com/

but they now have a $25 minimum order quantity, so most of my meager truck budget for parts goes almost exclusively to Classicparts. I'd suggest get catalogs from all the suppliers, then compare prices (or check online). You'll find that some of the biggest advertising vendors also have the highest prices.

Sorry I can't help with the sheetmetal repairs, perhaps some of the experienced fabricators will chime in.

Re: parts

On fixing that rust hole, it wouldn't be absolutely necessary to remove the roof. Is there any rust appearing on the outside of that hole? Probably the easiest fix for that would be to find a donor cab to cut a piece out of from that location. You'll want to be sure to get a piece a bit bigger than what the hole looks like now, as the rust and thin metal will extend beyond the actual hole. You will want to cut the hole in your cab back to where the metal is close to the original thickness.Of course welding will be necessary to install the replacement piece. If you don't have the equipment or skills to do this yourself, ask around and see if you can find someone willing to take this on. There may be another member close to you that could help out. I know there's several here from OK, but I don't know how close they might be to you.

Re: parts

Just install the '85 front suspension under your '62. The frame under a '85 is different enough to make a body swap not a good idea.

If you're not a supporting member, you can buy parts, you just cannot post a want to buy, want to trade, or what's it worth.
