Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
yea its good stuff, a lot of work but good stuff.
if we have time today, we might build the battery box that will go in the passenger side firewall and get the hole cut. I still need to run the brake and fuel lines on the frame but after that, I think I can go ahead and put the cab back on the frame.

got the battery box built and welded to the firewall. going to cut more sheet metal so that the firewall is flush with the box.

Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
yea i thought i was going to have it ready back in late july, that didnt happen. the firewall and frame has taken the most time. just trying to get things as close to perfection as i can get it i guess. i only get to spend about 3 hours on it a day and i lose about half of that time BSing with the guys at the shop.

Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
I can relate..
according to my wife, whatever time frame I tell her, she multiplies by a factor of 3 and then does it again.. even then she knows that is just nearing the halfway point.. Good thing we've been married 17 years, she must be used to it.

Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
haha, im nearing my 2nd year of marriage but we have been together for about 7 years. she has always known that when i tell her "im working on the truck" means "dont wait up for me"
and i do that factor math as well. when she asks "how much did that cost" i divide the real cost by 3

Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
ok big update, spent a lot of time on it over the 3 day weekend and to show you guys how dedicated i am, it was also my 2nd wedding anniversary on monday and spent almost the entire day working on the truck. she had to go to work and i didnt so i had to do something.
got paint (2010 GM Gun Metal Grey) on the firewall and got it wet-sanded and buffed out. With the help of two buddies we got the cab back on the frame sitting on top of new bushings We also noticed that my current 20' rims were not going to work so i threw on my older set of rims to make sure i had enough clearance. I have started working on the dash and have already removed all of the old paint. going to patch a few areas and lay some bondo down and back to sanding.

Re: 68 shortbed frame up rebuild (dropping it) - pics
it took way too long to get that firewall done, i hope the dash does not take so much of my time.
