1971-72 outer grill shell question

I was curious if anyone has a any issues with the chrome plated outer shells for 71-72. I have a local guy that sells parts for these trucks, blazers, and burbs. He said he would'nt sell anymore, because the chrome peels off easily. Any info would be greatly appreciated...Thanks Greg

Re: 1971-72 outer grill shell question

I've got a repop and the chrome is still good after 3+ years. I haven't been able to get it to fit correctly on the front of the fenders, but that is probably more due to the aftermarket fenders.

Re: 1971-72 outer grill shell question

mine is peeling on the inside, under the hood.every time i pop the hood another piece curls off.im going to try and cut it off straight and paint in this area.....very frustrating. the fit was good and i like the looks.but the quality off the plating is not up too par.just my 2 cents worth....Name: DSCN0324.jpg

Are the OEM ones still available? And are they a better choice?

there are still NOS ones out there...no longer made though. However, they are anodized aluminum...not chrome over steel. I like the look of the chrome as the anodized looks old/faded from day one IMHO compared to a chrome bumper...
