OBX Headers? good?
Has anyone tried using OBX headers for their v8 swap? They seem to be a good price. Im sure their from overseas tho. Just wanted to know about any fitment issues.
Thanks |

Re: OBX Headers? good?
The import community is meh about them... Most people will recommend getting a better made product. I have seen them on several of my close friends cars and yes they do look good on first glance but digging deeper you find issues. They are robotic welded, looks good until you get to the collectors. Every collector I have seen from them looks like a massacre happened inside. A nice header will be finished inside with a grinder to remove slag and shape the contours for flow. OBX's are not. Their crazy thin gauge stainless steel pipe has a tendency to crack around flanges if it has to support any weight or movement... i.e. turbo manifold or no flex joint in the exhaust system to soak up engine movement. Compare a Hedman, Hooker, Pacesetter, Borla, Skunk2, Turbonetics, heck even flowtech and the tubing thickness to a OBX is just laughable. The choice is up to you man. Do they work, yes... Are they the best, no... Could they 3 years with no problem, meh in my book.

Re: OBX Headers? good?
Yeah, I know Volvo guys who have tried the OBX products, and while they seem to have good fit, they're having problems with welds going bad after about a year. The thought is that they're using incompatible materials when welding. I don't know anything about welding, but the photos I've seen are of welds that just disintegrate.
