66 Fan shroud help
Hello all! Need some help/suggestions as to what to do! I have a aftermarket 5 blade fan. It will not fit in the 65 fan shroud I picked up. Do I; cut the shroud opening so the fan will fit, or buy a smaller fan. The 350 needs runs a little on the warm side and I'm trying to help cool it down with the shroud. Thanks, Hutch

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
Is the fan diameter bigger than the shroud opening or is it that the fan isn't centered in the shrooud opening?
If everything centers up good I would get a smaller fan. |

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
With the fan off of the truck, laying it in the opening it (fan) is about a 1/4" too large. Haven't got to try it in the mounting position due to having to disassemble everything to get the shroud in.

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
I would get a smaller fan than cut up your shroud.

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
Once the shroud is mounted you may find that the fan clears.
I notice that you're running a long water pump and that shroud was designed for short pump applications... spend some time mounting it up and you may end up being good to go. Don't cut the shroud... if the fan rubs you may only need a bigger fan spacer otherwise a smaller blade. I say mock it up before doing anything. |

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
The fan I have now is an Imperial 19 1/2". Seems like an 18" would be best as far as for clearance within the shroud. Thanks for all of the info guy's!

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
I appreciate all of the input guy's, as always everyone is more than willing to offer help and advice. The shroud isn't going to work on my truck. The 350 is mounted all the way forward. Once the shroud is in place it actually was over the alternater bracket and completely over the fan/water pump with no way to get to the fan to install it. Gonna spruce it back up and sell it or maybe just hang onto it as I haven't seen to many of them. Again, thanks for all of the help, Hutch

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
Would be interested in it... if you decide to sell. Wouldn't blame you for hanging onto it.

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
I'll get back to you on it D. The wife is dead up my a$$ about all of the parts that have been piling up as of late, spending all of my off days searching the junk yards! Let me see what's happening and I'll get back with ya. Take care, Hutch

Re: 66 Fan shroud help
Yeah, accomondate the shroud for sure. Smaller fan is the best choice. Just make sure to have the correct hardware and lower fan shroud seal.
