I think you will find the current 'burban to be the same length as the '73-'87 but with more interior volume, making it the largest ever.

At least with chevy, pontiac, b.o. etc. you had different styling, interiors and to a certain extent different drivetrains.

In the past, the GMC version allowed the "non Chevy" GM dealers to sell a truck without it being a Chevy.

As of late, it seems that strategy has changed to allow a "stepping stone" of sales, much like was done previously with passenger cars. That is, at one time a person would start out with a Chevy, then move to a Buick or Olds or Pontiac, and aspire to own a Cadillac.

Similarly, the thinking now is that the Chevy truck owner might be a construction worker, the GMC ("Professional Grade") owner might be the construction site boss; the Cadillac guy owns the construction company...



b) In the absence of data and going from memory, the '73-91 could be the largest, in terms of interior seating and cargo capacity. Seems like we strove to make the subsequent models (the GMT800 and 900 in particular) bigger than ever, though.
