Think the 305 has a head gasket starting to leak into the cylinders, engine idle is not as smooth as it's been and I have to top off the radiator every couple of weeks, she still runs great except for the idle, bought a bottle of BARS LEAKS Head Gasket Repair and Block Seal and gonna try it out this weekend, anybody have any luck with these head gasket repair kits in a bottle???

Re: Leaking Head Gasket???

Bars leaks works well, for a while. It limped a heater core in one of my Lincolns along for about 6 months, until it completely let go. It might let you save up for a bit, but you will have to fix it right eventually.

Re: Leaking Head Gasket???

if you do use those products then down the road when you replace the gasket properly make sure you flush the cooling system (rad/hoses especially) thats not the best stuff for a new gasket

Re: Leaking Head Gasket???

bad idea.....just pull the heads, send em to the machine shop and reinstall. 4hours work tops. and then its done right. Those fix it in a bottle tricks only makes things worse. you will be putting heater core, radiator, etc in when they get clogged up and they dont last long if at all. Before you do anything you need to make sure its a heads gasket problem and not something else. may be a simple fix. Every couple weeks sounds like a small leak somewhere else you are not seeing. get a pressure tester and make sure you have no leaks.
