4.3 experts please

I just got a 4.3/700R4 from an Astro van. It is computer controlled but does have a carb. I'm putting it into an International Scout. Is there a way I can delete the computer? Thanks

Yes,

If the eng.'s got a carb then it wasn't that dependent on the computer to run just install a regular carb. and ues a non computer HEI distributor.

For the trany you will need to get a TCC by pass kit and that will allow you to operate it without a computer and still have the overdrive gear.

I think that should do it.

Good luck.

Great. The dis on it right now looks and hooks up just like the early V-8 type HEI's (one wire for 12 volts and one for the tach). This dis should work right?

Yep,

If there's no wires going to the computer your good to go!

Im shure your aware that you will have to use differant sending unit's for all your engine vitills!

A torque convertor clutch bypass kit on a 700r4? Say goodbye to your tranny then. The 700R4 MUST use the lockup function unless they are rebuilt for use with a non lockup convertor. Besides, my overdrive will go into 4th without the TCC locked up if I want it too. What he needs is a TCC control switch. That will allow the TCC to lockup once he hits 4th.
