Found a couple trucks on a farm
I'm not much of a sixtys fan, but i found some early 60s trucks last night, c60 types. One was a straight six, and i think the other was a 366 big block.
The cab on one was in excelent shape. But the neatest thing i found was the dash on one of them. My camera died so i only got a pic of the dash. First one i had seen with the AIR and the TACH. |

Re: Found a couple trucks on a farm
wish I had found that!
do a little research, that dash should pay you back for buying both those trucks1 I think the 5000 tach = a 6cylinder funny looks like someone already tried to pull it and failed... get a line wrench 7/16,1/2, and 9/16 bring those 3 in regular wrench too, that will get that air guage unhooked, which is probably why it didn't come out yet.

That dash is in a tandam dump truck with a big block in it. And both are original. I didn't buy them, though i know i could buy that whole dash in a heart beat. Maybe i should go get it.

Re: Found a couple trucks on a farm
when you go back get some pics of the tandem! I would love to see that.
too bad you are on the other side of the country.. that tandem would be a cool one to restore...wouldn't be worth doing, but would be cool to preserve it.

Re: Found a couple trucks on a farm
I was trying to figure that too about the control box, by 65-66 they might have been self contained...
from what he is saying that is in a 366 tall deck bb, but 5k is probably fine for a 6! looks like a flasher switch down there too. but the knob dosent look right...

Re: Found a couple trucks on a farm
1963 was the first year of the self contained tach. 62 below had the external box. never seen a truck dash higher that 5000 rpm, but it's stamped on the back for the 6 or the 8. Don't forget to take the tach wire and grommet that goes through the hole beside the master cylinder. The grommet should have 3 or 4 openings. There was also an optional Vacuum gauge that was in the Air Pressure gage position.
It would be a Signal Stat/ Flare Stat emergency flasher. 3 bow ties in a circle for the truck. 3 bow ties in a circle and 105 in the center for passenger car. Read post 168 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=351107&page=7

Re: Found a couple trucks on a farm
If you go back and get the dash check on the grille, I am looking for one with chevrolet letters on the top side of the grille. I think they arfe only on the C-60. Good luck on the dash, nice find.
