Re: best hydraulic clutch for a 72 k5?

When I put my 454 in I switched to Hydro.
I have SM465 w/stock cast bell.
Got a slave bracket from Advance Adapter. They make it for the LandCruzer guys that put Chevy drive trains in their LCruzers.
So I bought LCruzer slave 1980 I think was the first year if my memory is working..
Then bought 1986+ GM clutch Master Cyl w/resevoir.
Drilled a hole in my firewall & clutch pedal.
Oh and used -3AN hose to connect the two...

I don't have many close ups online to share but you can see the little resevoir with the Edelbrock sticker on it and in green is the master. Looking at it reminds me I actually mounted the master upside down, so the angle works with the firewall better. I have seen one guy made a "degree shim" to correct the angle and mount rightside up but I have never had an issue. Getting all the air out was the hardest part but once the air is gone all is working great.
Happy Friday

Re: best hydraulic clutch for a 72 k5?

Thanks burt! that is kinda what i was looking at.. my buddy actually has one of those landcruiser brackets on his land cruiser from AA. Im going to pull his off and copy it. The master cylinder shouldnt be to hard to find either, I walked past one at the wrecking yard yesterday. Glad to hear it works good. Thanks again..

Re: best hydraulic clutch for a 72 k5?

more info:
I added a 1/2 spacer/plate inbetween the firewall and master to bring the master out or towards the front because my clutch pedal wasn't fully releasing the pressure from the master's pushrod.
Also I used an angle finder to make sure the pushrod was mounted level with the master, so when I push the clutch in, the pushrod has a nice and strait path into the master..
I hope that makes sence..

For the clutch master you can also use a Wilwood single reservior master cylinder. You will just need to match the bore size of the master to the slave cylinder. This is what I use on my conversion for the '60-'62 trucks.
