1990 2WD 1/2ton 14 Bolt Rear End

It seems as if nearly everything is shot in it. What axle can I use to replace it? I know of a friend who has a frame and axles from a 97 GM 3500. I wouldn't mind as they come with the rims. Would I be able to easily mount the rear axle or should I look somewhere completely different?

Take a few measurements to be sure dimensions are the same, both on the rearend and frame. My guess is that it'll work and be a fairly easy bolt-up.
