73-87 LS Swappers
What headers are you using?
How much has the "extra" stuff cost you to do the swap? What all do I need? Motor, trans, ecu tune, exhaust, fuel system upgrade, mounts, and ???? I have been planning a 383 build, but for the price of the 383 build I think I can do the 6.0l swap depending on the $$ of the motor. Advise me please.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
I plan to keep it pretty stock for the time being and then adding bolt-ons as time and $$ allows. I just want to get it in the truck and running for the lowest price possible. No ac for now until I get all the other ac pieces together. My budget is between $1500-$2500.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
Should I run a 4L60 or 80 behind it? What came from the factory behind the 6.0l in the HD trucks?

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
4l80e mostly came with the 6.0 until you get into the newer truck 2007 I think. You could do a nice build with a 700r4 as long as your not pumping 600HP.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
I am trying to find a "complete" package and I would like to have a trans that can stand up to some abuse.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
That's what I am looking for I was just curious as to what came behind most 6.0l is all. Just a curious question, what does it take to adapt a th350 to a 6.0l?

an adapter. it compensates for the shorter crank end.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
The adapter goes between the flexplate and the T/C or the flexplate and the crank?

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
since the ring is on the outer edge...how would a deep dish not move the ring gear out past the stock position...causing the same starter issue?

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
Don't you need that for the ecm in order to drive? I thought I read about it on another forum. It really just depends on what the cost of the 6.0l/4l80e combe ends up costing. If the 4l80e jacks the price up too much then I will use my th350 for now.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
subscribed!!!! I am starting to collect parts for a swap in my 77 stepper and have all the same questions,
I just picked up an 04 2500 sierra with a LQ4 and a 4L80E, but its a 4x, so now need to find an output shaft and a tail housing. but while I'm in there maybe I could mod it some???? There sure is a ton of info on here, its actually overwhelming, all the different routes you can take. |

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
Easiest way to get a vss signal is with the dakota digital spedometer cable vss generator. I need to dig up the part number, but that is what I just did with mine. It outputs an 8000 pulses per mile signal that you wil need to update in the PCM once you get it running.

Re: 73-87 LS Swappers
does any one know of a motor mount adapter that will allow you to retain the A/C compressor in the stock location? is that even possible?
